The Fruit Machine

Eddie (Emile Charles) and Michael (Tony Forsyth) are two 16-year-old gay friends from Liverpool. Berated by his father for his camp behaviour, Eddie runs away from his Liverpool home and joins Michael, a streetwise hustler, who is also on the run. The boys witness the gangland murder of "Annabelle" (Robbie Coltrane), the transvestite hostess of Liverpool's Fruit Machine Club. Fearing for their lives, they are thrown into the arms of a gay opera singer and his manipulative manager. They wind up in Brighton, but the danger is not over.

Alex E (nl) wrote: The Good, The Bad and The Korean.A martial arts movie that seems heavily influenced by the "western" genre, Kundo has a classic revenge storyline, excellent costumes, greath choreography and moments of comical genius. If you're like me and just wish to be entertained for 2 and a bit hours without having to over-analyse everything afterward than this is the movie for you.

Philipp H (jp) wrote: Es htte eine kitschige Schmonzette oder albere Komdie werden knnen. Der Film hat aber ein paar super Br 1/4che, die einen immer wieder aus der Klischee-Spur holen.

Peter G (it) wrote: What a curious film. The sets and locations are rather slick but the CGI's aren't convincing. The acting is very competent but Khabensky suffers from being a lookalike for Harry Enfield - which, is of course, no fault of his own - I kept on expecting Mr. Cholmondely-Warner to comment! This chunk of history is carefully draped with a romance which lacks tension. I wondered whether it was an attempt to decorously pick up a cut thread of Russian history - the kind of topic that could not be treated without polemic under the Soviet system. It's a pity that the appalling civil war that followed the October Revolution couldn't have been dealt with in a slightly less chocolate-boxy manner.

David O (jp) wrote: this is a good movie. I have a soft spot for poker so that could b why I like this movie. the plot is great and keeps you guessing till the end. I would watch a few more times again.

Jay R (mx) wrote: This was ok. I'm more of a heroin kind of guy.

Weul S (it) wrote: Sometimes Hollywood actually gets it right. This film is emotional without being sentimental, important without being preachy, both timely & timeless. Tom Hanks earned this Oscar, from the opera scene alone.

Drew B (gb) wrote: The Polonia Brothers epicly epicly fail. I seriously feel like this is one of those movies that a group of pre-pubescent children would make with a home-video camera. Still, that's giving this film too much credit.

Sarah S (fr) wrote: This is a pretty okay movie. It has some slow parts, but there are some decent performances from now well-known actors. And Twiggy!

Spencer S (es) wrote: Walter Matthau is...Walter Matthau, and Goldie Hawn is his ditzy, suicidal fling who is slowly falling back into her demographic. Along for the ride is the still sparkling Ingrid Bergman, now older, wiser, and complacent to play along with Matthau's strange fixation. It was solid performance wise, but it reeked of cultural impact and changing to be "hip."

Chris B (br) wrote: that should have been better. glad I was doing the ironing whilst watching otherwise it would have been a waste of time.

Ian F (ca) wrote: A Peanuts movie I don't like. Really, aside from the introduction of Woodstock this is kinda a throw away. The music and the story are uncharacteristically slow and frankly kinda lousy and way too much effort is put on cruel moments and sadness. It just doesn't work.

Calvin R (fr) wrote: Pride and prejudice: Zombies had a few fun moments, but its sluggish performance, terrible story, it didn't potray its title very well. Worst of all it was dull, and boring . There were barely any intense zombies moments. Dont waste your time with this mess.
