Alex Lupita A (nl) wrote: The film deals with the struggle to find ones personal identity. It explores how Family and Religion play a part in who we are and what we become. This movie shows that deep down we are all the same. We have differences but it is our actions that make us who we are. I think the lighting was amazing in this film and really help show this piece off visually. Very interesting and fun camera work. There where parts of the story left open in the end. Not your western culture, Hollywood ending. It allows for the viewer to explore what they think might happen next.

Christopher B (au) wrote: Imagine Romeo+Juliet but twenty times sillier and in Portuguese. That's basically this movie. There's a full two minute scene where SPOILER three characters mourn the death of Orfeu. One does a strange yelp/scream thing, one whistles, and one bashes his knees. FOR TWO MINUTES. The music's pretty good, though; I mean, it is Caetano Veloso.

Michael G (nl) wrote: Beautiful, smart, romatic, clever, dramatic, feel good movie. Def for a couple to watch. Nice sweedish scenary and amazing cinematography.

Kevin M W (us) wrote: Yaaa-hooo! Now here's a alien movie for ya, yessiree! Burton's half-tribute, half nudge in the ribs to the old sci-fi of the 1950's not only does well, it surpasses it's subject matter and most of the current day items of the same ilk. Still crazy as well after all these years. Howzit get only a 52% on the damned tomatometer?!? Who are these mongoloids?

Jay B (ca) wrote: A potentially slick film that quickly spirals into a formulaic mess. Lithgow is fun, at times, but the rest of the cast is unbearably dull. Some of the corny camera techniques trade tension for an almost wacky vibe.

Rian P (jp) wrote: It's a metaphor. Through the subject of the dog, the film asks, ''Is racism curable or incurable?'' You'll find the answer that it provides at the end a very interesting one. Great direction from Fuller (my first film of his). Downfall of the movie is the acting, though -- the humans, that is (this has the best performance by a dog in cinema, hands down).

Leena L (gb) wrote: I watched all of it and i was bored to death. Weird dance numbers that took forever and not really any story.....

Graham B (it) wrote: Quite a beautiful film visually and the story is much darker than the norm from this age. Stanwyck's Megan is a real powerhouse to start with, but slowly but surely becomes a sappy mess. Nils Astor is an odd choice. Another peg in Hollywood Asian racism? Possibly. The film has Asian actors in supporting roles (Toshia Mori as the double-crossing Mah-Li is particularly fine), so why cast a Dane as the General and cover him in distracting make-up that makes him look very creepy and monstrous? It's an odd story with bizarre character arcs. I didn't find anyone particularly sympathetic and the plot was quite ancillary. Left me a touch bored.

Caleb L (fr) wrote: a really good movie with interesting with interesting movie. I personally enjoyed this movie, because the story was very well made. the movie i think deserves more attention because many more people will enjoy this movie and i also feel that this movie is really underrated, because after reading the reviews i feel like they didn't understand the movie at all whereas a few are actually right about the movie being good. in this day and age there needs to be more horror movies that actually tells a story, where the main characters aren't stupid and where the monster or killer comes from and why its doing that. because in my opinion the critics don't even know what they're doing (they gave sharknado an 82% whereas world war z got a 67%(you cannot be telling me that sharknado, a movie literally about sharks being able to fly in tornadoes is better than a movie where the apocalypse is caused by a virus. sharknado is technically a bad jaws clone )). so take it from a kid who knows his stuff, ignore the people who say they know about movies and listen to me, you will not ever regret watching this movie, because if they say sharknado is good and had to change the rating for deadpool because it was too low then those guys are bad when it comes to rating movies.
