The Glass Castle
A young girl is raised in a dysfunctional family constantly on the run from the FBI. Living in poverty, she comes of age guided by her drunkard, ingenious father who distracts her with magical stories to keep her mind off the family's dire state, and her selfish, nonconformist mother who has no intention of raising a family, along with her younger brother and sister, and her other older sister. Together, they fend for each other as they mature in an unorthodox journey that is their family life.
The Glass Castle 2017 tells the story of a young girl coming of age in a dysfunctional family of nonconformist nomads with a mother who's an eccentric artist and an alcoholic father who would stir the children's imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty. . Fan vet.

Blaine is the hopeless romantic, sweet, smart, down to earth who finds the bars devoid of any potential long lasting relationships. Cameron, his roommate, is a happy go lucky, promiscuous man who is an actor and also a go-go dancer at one of the WeHo bars. Blaine starts chatting with a guy online named Xander (David Loren), starting a virtual relationship. When they decide to meet for coffee, Blaine finds out he has been chatting with Xander under his roommate's profile. But in the city of Angels where perfect bodies and beautiful faces reign supreme, can Blaine explain Xander the misunderstanding and win him over? You have to watch and find out but for all the hopeless single romantics out there (straight or gay) I think this film will resonate with you. Available on Netflix instant streaming and recommended!

However, Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig feel wasted in this and have very little actually funny scenes. More than anything though, this is a story about compelling characters that just happens to have spots of light humor here and there. Another complaint is that it had very little in terms of surprises. If you've seen any other coming of age story, like Amazon's Red Oaks for example, then you've seen this movie. I just wish this film felt a little more distinctive. Glad I saw it though, if only to see the great performances.

By way of the moral 'justice' carried out of the establishment in question the film actually says a lot about general decency and is indeed greater than it seems to get credit for.

It just didn't all add up for me...she seemed like a caricature of the paranoid religious mother who doesn't want to give up her virgin daughter to animalistic impure men... also as funny as Jack MacGowran was to watch- the nat kelly subplot seemed really thrown in and didn't pose much threat or foreseeable element to the overall plot. it was just a minor nuisance for the james mason character and so he was setback $300 bucks a few paintings and loses a supposed friend from the beginning. the script could've been a heck of alot better too- but i do like the visuals and particularly the piano music sequences are very pretty that reflect the romantic nature atmosphere on the island and art sessions. and a NOTE about flixter site: i'm really disliking the synopsis writers giving away blatant plot elements...sometimes the viewers would like to SEE the movie themselves instead of getting fed the plot in the synopsis before they even see it...
