What surprised me the most was how good Kristen Stewart was in this. We might always make fun of her for Twilight...but she is improving her craft and becoming a better actress. This movie is evidence of that.

(us) wrote: Intense drama of government abuse of power. World comes apart for De Niro, the actor plays a mighty director who only knows the cinema as a profession. Suddenly in a very short time his immense stature in the film industry comes crumbling down around him. His real problem is his loyalty to his friends and coworkers. An unwillingness to rat (give names to the government) in a true story of 1940's "witch hunt" conducted by Senator Eugene McCarthy and his Senate Committee on Un-American Activities. While not a politically involved person at any level, De Niro is having to explain why he went to a ban the bomb political rally hosted by the Communist Party. George Wendt (of television's Cheers fame) is his best friend who is likewise put to the test. Well done movie in most every respect. Worth watching once or more if you like historical dramas based on fact.
