James F (br) wrote: After the widespread popularity of the first Paranormal Activity movie, the horror genre saw a surge in the use of atmosphere, suspense, and suggestion to give audiences a scare. Unfortunately, "Greystone Park" (a.k.a. "The Asylum Tapes") couldn't figure out how to use those tools properly. Much of the last half of the film was frustrating to watch; the camera was flooded with unnecessary bits of film that were supposed to be from the early years of the asylum, and the "camera static" effect was used to horrible excess. Far too much of the last portion of the film was either pitch dark or flooded with random "scary" images and I found myself wishing that I the focus would go back to the people in the asylum. The acting was superb, and the slow descent into madness suffered by their characters was believable. However, while fantastic, I don't feel the actors' skills were not enough to redeem the film's novice production quality.

Jarett B (ca) wrote: ... Like waking up to a fresh cup of coffee... WITH James Stewart! What a beautiful, deeply complex, ruthless tale of the mythical West! I'm breathless. Firstly, the relationship between two men with ruthless pasts and whether they are really able to change is the bread and butter of this film. Stewart and Kennedy are outstanding as former boarder raiders; they reminded me of DeNiro and Pacino in "Heat" - only 40 years earlier! They're doppelgangers. Also, for 1952, Mann's direction is truly ballsy. It's definitely among Mann's most violent films, but also among his best work too.

Tom G (us) wrote: A superbly acted and beautifully filmed propaganda piece that slowly descends from the normality of everyday life into the horrific realities of war, yet holds on to its sense of hope with the resilience of mankind. In times of darkness, a simple rose may prove to be the difference between despair and faith.

Leon B (de) wrote: Review:This is a brilliant documentary which gives you a deep insight into the world of drugs. The title makes you think that it's going to be an A-Z of becoming a drug lord, but basically it shows you the different sides of selling and taking narcotics and how the government isn't really helping the situation. I learnt a lot from this film. It really does show that things really aren't black and white. When you see the amount of money that the government are getting in there budgets to fight drug crime to what they are actually doing against the war on drugs, there is definitely something wrong. The Eminem and 50 Cent bonus interview was touching and some of the ex-drug king pins really do show that it really doesn't pay to get into that world. Anyway, it's a great documentary that is definitely worth a watch. Round-Up:The other great thing about this documentary is that it shows that there are many addictions that are legal, that cause much more problems than drug addiction. When I saw that statistics about how many people are dying from smoking, it was really scary and as a smoker, it did make me think twice. I also couldn't believe that 25% of the world prisoners are in America which really does show that they have a serious problem. Anyway, I don't want to spoil the documentary for anyone so just watch it and get back to me with your views.Budget: N/AWorldwide Gross: $40,000 (Deserved More!)I recommend this movie to people who are interested in the mind behind a drug dealer and the up and down sides of that world. 7/10
