The Heat

The Heat

Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence--and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins, one of Boston P.D.'s "finest," is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: Buddies.

The Heat is a funny story about a FBI agent Sarah Ashbum and a policewoman Shannon Mullins when they cooperate to deal with the task. A smart, sharp and cautious person while the other has hothead and is sulky. Initially they do not like each other but things gradually change when they understand each other. Two people, 2 natures but they make the miracle when they capture the notorious drug boss. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Ethan T (ag) wrote: Chilean filmmaker Patricio Guzman's 'Nostalgie de la Luz' (Nostalgia for the Light) is a good example of the importance of checking the listings properly before you watch. As a tale of the plight of those whose families were torn asunder by the legendary cruelty of the hateful Pinochet regime, which tortured at least 30,000 Chileans and 'disappeared' - that is, murdered, many thousands more, Nostalgie is a poignant, affecting tale. The sight of now-wizened elderly ladies scrabbling amongst the parched hardtop deserts of Atacama, with the horizon stretching to the end of the earth as they search and search for some trace of their loved ones, is a powerful and lingering image. Much of the photography at high altitudes amongst the astronomical telescopes that flock to the transparent skies of Atacama is beautiful too. But in telling a story that is central to understanding modern Chile, Guzman fails to show a similar interest in the fascinating astronomical world he is granted access to. Instead, we are treated to pretty pictures of stars, and talking heads of astronomers telling us what they *feel* about things - the meaning of life, the souls of the stolen generation - rather than what they actually *know* about things. The effects of Chile's hated junta are perhaps still not talked about enough in that country, with people urged to forget and forgive despite the heinous crimes perpetrated there. But that is no excuse to make such a lightweight film about another intriguing topic - that of the exploration of the cosmos at the heart of the bleak, majestic Atacama.

Sean C (nl) wrote: Low budget horror that manages to sustain interest despite some dodgy acting and a climax that goes on too long. There's some visual flair here, a neat score and decent editing. On the evidence of this I'd be interested to see what director John Michael Elfers comes up with next.

Maybe it is the stress I have been under, but during the scene when Dropo is trying on Santa's suit, I had to pause it because I couldn't breath I was laughing so hard. This is now sadly my favorite Christmas movie....and I HATE Christmas movies. I highly recommend the MST3K version to anyone in grad school who just spent the entire day reading about Victorian book bindings.
