The House Where Evil Dwells
At the prompting of his diplomat friend, Alex, writer Ted Fletcher takes his wife, Laura, and daughter, Amy, on an extended working holiday. Alex finds a house for them in Kyoto, Japan, and the Fletchers move in, laughing off rumors that the place is haunted. But the ghost of 19th-century samurai Shigero turns out to be very real, and is intent on making the family re-enact an ancient murder-suicide.
In 1840, a samurai comes home to find his wife in bed with another man, so he kills them both and then himself. Flash-forward to the present day, and an American family of three moves into this since-abandoned house and starts to experience incidents of haunting and possession. . (fr) wrote: Silly, juvenile, sophomoric...and absolutely brilliant. How could anyone have expected more from a full-length version of a MacGruber skit?? It is a silly SNL skit, for God's sake! Gratuitous in language, violence and 80's references, the only reason not to like this movie is if you thought they shouldn't have made a movie version of it. Deal with it. They made it. And if you were a fan of the skit, I cannot imagine why you wouldn't have loved the film.

I was a fan of Metallica as a kid, and had all their albums, studio, live, you name it....this documentary gave me a lot of insight into their lives, way of being, their rapport with eachother, their methods of music-making, their drawing board ideas and creative methods, it all comes to a head in this film. 'Some Kind of Monster' details the making of their album of the same name, and if you've ever been a Metallica (or heavy metal in general) fan, you gotta check this out. 3 of 5 stars.

(au) wrote: Sleepless in Seattle is a classic romance movie that was a bit different then I had expected. Most romantic films show a relationship build, have its downfalls and then culminate in a big love-fest at the end. Sleepless however had a slight twist to it and that made for a fun, yet predictable viewing. The film was very funny, mainly thanks to Tom Hanks and his son who were jokesters throughout. I never really felt a strong connection for the two, maybe it was because they only...wait I can't give the plot away, thats part of the fun. I can see why this is a classic movie and I did enjoy it, but it wasn't up there near the top of the romance movie mountain.
