John W (jp) wrote: Brutally violent and while almost a mix of homage and retold Reservoir Dogs, it manages to stand on its own. The backdrop is gritty, claustrophobic with a great atmosphere. The performances (and star studded cast) are solid - who's not afraid of Tony Todd's growl being aimed at them? - and the plot has a couple of cool twists tha make getting to the end worthwhile.
Noah Z (kr) wrote: I can't say enough bad things about the film.Whoever poured the abundance of money required to make the cinematography as good as it was, obviously didn't read the script... or watch it as it was being produced. If there is one thing that you can assume with a high level of confidence, it is that each and every character young and old (all 4 of them) are 100% aware that light = good, and dark = bad. In such a situation, you would expect that "where is my next light source going to come from" would at least make the top 5 list of the most important thing they might want to be thinking about at any given time...(situated somewhere near or around "since I have nothing but time on my hands, lets brainstorm all of the different ways that light can be produced.) This unfortunately is not the case. For what seems like 30-40 minutes, the gas-generator-powered-bar, they all end up in, is threatening to generate its last kilowatt, and despite the fact that the 2 main characters have obviously spent a great deal of time collecting 1. A large amount of spare batteries and enough LED lights for 20 people. 2. A giant bag of glowsticks 3. Flares, I dare you to find a single scene in the entire 30 minute "the gas generator is about to run out" segment of the film when anyone of them has the slightest inkling of an idea to so much as motion towards one of their giant bags of illuminating goodies. Anakin finally has the idea to make a torch later on in the film, however that idea would have been more useful whilst everyone was in the full stock bar full of flammable hard alcohol. Putting both of my thumbs down could never adequately display my disdain for this film, so I will just shove them through my eye sockets to try and take my mind of the mental anguish. DON'T BE LIKE ME! YOU DON'T HAVE TO LOSE AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES FROM YOUR LIFE! JUST DON'T WATCH IT. PS one more joke, I guess they used all of the flashlights and batteries creating the shadow puppets for the special effects, that's why they had no batteries left for the characters in the movie.

Don S (us) wrote: Really decent drama/thriller featuring a young Josh Hartnett and showcasing a deliciously psychotic Rose Byrne. This is a love story which also features Diane Kruger, Matthew Lillard (in a non-creepy role), and Jessica Pare. The characters are real but not delved into deeply enough. The circumstances could definitely happen. Well worth your time.

Michael H (us) wrote: One of Myers' first films after SNL, you can tell that he's still finding his way. The first 2/3 of the film are solid enough, blending outrageous comedy with romance, but the final act really doesn't know what to do with itself and things fall apart pretty quick.
