The Iceman Cometh

Set in 1912, the entire film takes place inside a dive bar named The Last Chance Saloon, where its destitute patrons eagerly await the arrival of Hickey, who arrives annually and props everyone up with free drinks and spirited stories of his travels. However, when Hickey does show up this year, it is with a message of temperance and an exhortation to give up hopeless dreams and face reality.

A salesman with a sudden passion for reform has an idea to sell to his barfly buddies: throw away your pipe dreams. The drunkards, living in a flophouse above a saloon, resent the idea. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Colin B (jp) wrote: I really enjoyed this movie, but as a fan of West's work I went in with an open mind.A lot of people are giving this movie grief for "borrowing" elements from the Jonestown massacre.... This movie is clearly a retelling of that very story... With the exception of the back story to the film makers and particular characters in this, this is almost exactly the story of Jonestown. It's supposed to be.. clearly. Up to the fact t hat journalists coming to cover the story was what caused the initial unrest, and the mother approaching the journalists and begging them to take her child: that's all fact. I feel like if they had just made that more clear, a lot of people would have a softer opinion about this movie. It's cliche because it IS the story that started the cliche... It wasn't trying to be something else. So I went in to this movie expecting a dramatization of Jonestown, and that's exactly what I got. If you forgive the fact that the major plot elements are all based entirely in actual events, then the movie itself is really quite entertaining. I even see some reviewers saying it was "predictable". Well of course it fucking is! Who doesn't know the story of Jonestown? I feel like this is the closest we're going to get to getting a sense of what it was like to be in that town, and I thought the acting, cinematography and pacing was all well done and tense.

Tania J (ag) wrote: A waste of time, very disappointing. Bad acting, poor plot, no decent story line.

Greg R (es) wrote: I actually did not expect to like this movie, however I do love many of Robert Zemeckis's films and I haven't gotten a chance to see this one yet. I was surprised. The idea is not original, I've seen a story told like this before, however, What Lies Beneath is a wonderfully crafted ghost story with some Hitchcock-inspired ideas.

Aura B (mx) wrote: It's a great movie! touch sad themes, principally the difficult and unique that is the process of duel for a person, but is does in a very light way through a mix of sweet, serious and funny interpretations. Alan Rickman and Juliet Stevenson make remarcable characters here than drags you to feel their emotions. I recomended.
