The Invincible Kung Fu Trio

The film takes up the tale of Shaolin students Fong Si Yu and Hung Si Kwan (joined here by a third comrade, Lu Ka Chai) and their efforts to battle Ching oppressors. Their chief antagonist is the Abbot of Wutang who makes it his job to get rid of the three heroes and actually comes up with a clever plan to do so. Ingela A (jp) wrote: Author, director and certified provocateur Virginie Despentes follows up her controversial debut feature, Rape Me, with the far less risqu and much more tenderhearted tale of punked out lesbian love, Bye Bye Blondie. Starring Emmanuelle Beart and Beatrice Dalle as a pair of Sex Pistols-worshipping gals who try to rekindle an affair they began several decades earlier, the film is as cinematically freewheeling as it is emotionally sincere in its portrayal of a star-crossed couple struggling to make it together for a second time

Their methods were brutal and immoral as they used these prisoners of war to build a railway in 1943, but not completely relenltless.Amazing story telling drawn from actual events, emotional, chilling and gripping from beginning to end you just don't want to blink in case you miss something.

Michael O (de) wrote: I miss the days when Spike's films were a pure rush of surreal style, where the characters live and breath within a fiercely dialectic world, and where there are no bad guys: only those who've woken up or stayed asleep. Each character is bathed in Lee's music and light and so we don't rally against them but instead hope they'll one day succeed. Victory and loss is a confusing ultimatum especially in such a confusing place as college and what makes this flick so original is that it captures all of that without passing any judgments. All Spike's movie knows is that something is wrong and people have to WAKE UP.

Tommy H (kr) wrote: Sadly, I've never understood what people found funny about Monty Python. The movies like Holy Grail make it funny, but not the show. What I do love is how it's completely random and absurd. And the characters are so proper but ridiculous. The only time I've seen it duplicated is with John Lithgow's character on 3rd Rock From The Sun. In Monty Python the roles are either oblivious or they act like serious, sophisticated actors in a movie directed by an eccentric amateur like Ed Wood. It's fantastically surreal, but like I said, I don't laugh much at it.

Brandon S (au) wrote: A masterful work of art that bowls over with energy and life. Some of the finest editing of any American film ever made, and bracing direction that moves with an organic pace and a feeling of scope and scale. Arguably, one of Scorsese's finest films to date.
