The Killer Inside Me
Deputy Sheriff Lou Ford is a pillar of the community in his small west Texas town, patient and apparently thoughtful. Some people think he is a little slow and maybe boring, but that is the worst they say about him. But then nobody knows about what Lou calls his "sickness": he is a brilliant, but disturbed sociopathic sadist.

(ag) wrote: Typical confidence caper pulled off by capable hands all around making for a good afternoon at the movies. Think Thomas Crown Affair. Fun stuff.
(ca) wrote: What an amazing fun film from begging to end. When it first started it reminded me of cabaret which I loved. The songs where all good. The acting was great from Cher who sings 2 great songs in the film, Christina agularia does her best but shes not amazing but she's good. The plot is good too but nothing amazing. A fun musical from start to finish it's great to see Cher back on screen and to see her do a musical just makes the film better.

(nl) wrote: If you in any way enjoy Goldsworthy's art this will take your appreciation to an altogether new level...SEE THIS. JUST SEE THIS. I realized that many of the profundities, delights, and wonders around his work may only be revealed through film. Somehow through the combination of the subject matter and storytelling this art documentary is actually riveting.
(fr) wrote: A timeless classic that may be the best Stephen King adaptation ever (with all due respect to 1408 and The Shining). Kathy Bates has a career defining role as an obsessed fan who can scare the crap out of us on cue. Her cold stare can melt you. And James Caan excels as the trapped protagonist, who we can't help but empathize with. And together (along with Rob Reiner) they create a literal masterpiece.
(ru) wrote: This cheesy oddity was a live action movie produced as a tie-in to an anime series. King Kong Escapes is hardly the game changer that the original film was, but it does make for a brief bit of kaiju fun. To say it frankly, I don't have it in me to hate a movie where the big guy fights an evil robot version of himself named Mechanikong.

(de) wrote: This is a polished French product, as one would expect, even if the personages are a little caricatured. The production is perfectly styled for 1970s Marseille, and the bright, white Mediterranean light and sweeping coastal vistas are superb. The story is gripping on the French drug-busting theme, with some dangerous Italian wit on the side. No film on the French Connection would be complete without a car chase; this one is not what you'd expect. Rather strangely, just as you think that the film is about to end, it starts up again with the characters taking on wholly new aspects, even reversals of who they previously were, as if you are watching not even two episodes of a miniseries stitched together, which perhaps it was designed to be, but a rather disjointed sequel. The ending is most unsatisfactory, as indeed it must have been, if that is what occurred, but it is not surprising. A lot of modern crime fiction and film from Europe today is about the inevitability of corruption and the persistence of the various gangs and clans. It seems then that little has changed, except no doubt to get worse, since the period depicted in this film.
(fr) wrote: Such a feel good movie. Richard Gere dazzles in a role that nobody can replace. I have not seen the original Japanese version so there is no comparison to be made. But this American remake is funny, enthusiastic and not overly cheesy. I also like the fact that there is no extra marital story between the student and the teacher. Recommended for a Saturday evening.

(jp) wrote: The relationship that develops between the two would-be siblings is a good one, but it's also a very wordy one, and gets a little laborious towards the end.
(nl) wrote: The relationship between Johnny and Mavis is cute, but the rest of the film struggles to have enough momentum to carry forward on its own. Not bad for one or two time watch.
