The Lady Assassin

The Lady Assassin

In the remote, shoreline Duong Son Tavern, the beautiful landlady Kieu Thi (Thanh Hang) lures weary travellers, bandits and officials into her establishment with the help of her three stunning hostesses. But rather than sell themselves, the girls rob and murder their guests, hording a growing pile of gold for a rainy day. In their latest haul, however, the women discover the bound and desperate Linh Lan (Tang Thanh Ha) hidden in a coffin. She begs them to spare her life and train her in martial arts, so she can kill evil general Quan Du, who murdered her family. Kieu Thi agrees, and takes Linh Lan under her wing, but it soon transpires not everyone is who they originally claimed to be.

James H (it) wrote: Very ordinary action drama, a little too complex for it?s own good, as well as far fetched and unconvincing. Michael Ontkean does well. It has all been done so many times before and since.

Thrse F (es) wrote: Not as good as the first on.

Rob K (gb) wrote: Although the pace is a bit slow, it's still interesting enough to keep you from shutting it off. Scott Adkins gives an above average performance and Jean-Claude Van Damme shows he's still got it, even if he isn't quite as nimble as he used to be. The fight scenes are rather good, although no new ground is broken in that regard.

Esa L (it) wrote: Nicely shot black and white film about the Paris Riots in 1968.

Lisandro C (ca) wrote: Very original and visually beautiful, although the storyline gets a bit boring.

Simon W (ag) wrote: The House of Blue Leave scene is one of the most amazing fight sequences i've ever seen. This movie is just super cool - a brutal econimical ode to the Asian Samaria Kung Fu movies - but without it getting repetative and boring the way they usually do. I can remember almost screaming with glee when Lucy Liu chopped that guys head off and that ridiculous, continuous blood spray exploded from his neck stump. Volume 2 is wicked as well and The Bride vs. Ele Drive fight is fucking awesome. Can't wait to see what comes of the whole bloody affair.

Paul D (us) wrote: Quirky relationship stories, but suffers in the realism department as the storyline isn't convincing.

Alyan H (nl) wrote: One of the best, Jim Henson would be Proud!

Scott C (mx) wrote: I really liked this when I saw it way back when. I wonder if it still holds up now. Made me aware of the work of Peter Medak.

Jonathan S (it) wrote: If this happened more often I might consider joining the military.

Gordo d (it) wrote: An engaged man finds an angel and can't decide whether to marry his b***** girlfriend or keep falling in love with the angel. The idea itself is stupid so therefore the movie is stupid.

Filmen r dessutom sjukt snyggt klippt, montaget ver Paris tunnelbana r galet bra. Ingen klassiker men en klart sevrd rulle.

Della E (ag) wrote: wonder what the real Cristiane F thought of it - she lived off the royalties for some time. Other drug movies (eg. Requiem for a dream; trainspotting) have elements of this, surely one of the earliest no-hold-barred portrayals

Christophe C (ag) wrote: MAIS Q'AVEZ VOUS FAIT A SOLANGE? en vf. Un excellent giallo qui sait tr (C)s bien brouiller les pistes, qui tient en haleine et avec une histoire assez glauque au final. Tr (C)s bonne surprise.

Matt M (au) wrote: This film could be described as a spaghetti western family comedy where violent shoot outs are replaced with slapstick fist fights. The outcome is surprisingly hilarious, also because of the chemistry between the Laurel and Hardy like on screen pairing of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, destined to become successful all around the world as a duo. This is arguably their most famous and celebrated film, Hill and Spencer playing the role of two brothers helping a group of Mormons by fighting off an evil tycoon.

Dan G (es) wrote: I remember Ray Liotta being in this movie.. and he had that grenade launcher he stole from that dude. I also remember it being a very subpar movie though :(

elsa b (ca) wrote: The film is awesome - kept me in suspense the entire time. I totally recommend it.
