Leo K (ca) wrote: A movie with no real point to prove, but rather a story of how business is really run within a very corrupt african republic. The journalist whom ventures into this story is one of the bravest guys alive, and you can certainly tell how nervous he becomes, and how much money is spent pushing a corrupt business. In the end, 'its business as usual'. A+

Nom D (it) wrote: Somehow I missed this powerful little film when it first came out. I'm not sure why it hasn't rated higher. The story is profound, it's elegantly filmed, and the performances are universally good. Even Kiefer Sutherland checked his ego at the door to be part of a quality ensemble cast. Ciaran McMenamin's performance stands out, and Robert Carlyle really throws himself into the role. Mark Strong's ill-fated Dusty Miller is as sympathetic and inspiring as they come, and I found myself crying like a baby in his final scene. I'm surprised that some reveiewers found the violence and realism too much. It served the story well, and for me the spiritual aspects of the story - not just faith but music, literature and brotherly love - more than surmounted its uglier elements. The ending will leave a lasting impression. This film is simply a thing of beauty; I can't recommend it enough.
