Seeing as there is an actual war on cops these days, this movie was ahead of its time. In terms of being authentic; from an actual police officers point of view, it is just that. There are some parts (apartment fight between civilian and cop), that don't quite pinpoint the realism of police work. However, the interactions between Zavala and Taylor felt very real and the camaraderie was all on point. The story is excellent, the realism is there. The only real gripe I have is that the "bad guys" could have used a better backstory.

More comedy than horror, Among Us could be seen as a farce of such films, but it ends up just feeling cheaply made and stupid. There are few laughs to be had along the way, but overall I would recommend skipping it.

None of the films really have anything to do with each other except the characters but story-wise, it's not like you have to watch the first one to get the others. As a kid, I remembered this and High Noon At Mega Mountain as the lesser films in this franchise. Really I had more fun with Mega Mountain for obvious reasons for those that know me and if you don't, read my flixter review for that one. This one seemed very B-movie where the kids fight their way through the entire movie. Really the first movie is the only one that attempts to have a heartfelt scene. This tried with the grandfather and his garden but that just went nowhere. I'd say this is my least favorite of the series.

This is a charming and warmly funny fable which was based on the absence of a real life singer, this is a very charming film with a lot of heart and good humour, as well as some good performances. It still stands the test of time these days, and it's a joy to watch. In the Irish part of Liverpool, nightclub owner Micky O'Neill (Adrian Dunbar) is struggling to get any good acts for the punters, but when he learns that he can get reclusive Irish tenor Josef Locke (Ned Beatty) to appear, Micky promotes this one to high heavens. However, it turns out the Locke he booked is a fake going around as Mr. X (William Hootkins). This causes Micky to lose the night club and his girlfriend Nancy (Tara Fitzgerald). But, it sparks determination inside him, and Micky travels to Ireland to find the real Josef Locke, who has hid away in Ireland since the 1950's for tax reasons, but he won't give in, and he plans to bring Locke back to Liverpool, and win everything back. This is a film cut from similar cloth to the old Ealing Comedies and even Local Hero (1983), which has a lot of sly humour, good dialogue and a lot of local heart. It's also a bit of a road movie at one point, it's a shame Chelsom hasn't done anything as good as this.

Michael T (es) wrote: Around the same time North American audiences were discovering Rowan Atkinson in the BLACK ADDER series (being shown on PBS) he starred as an obnoxious comic to whom the "Tall Guy" (Jeff Goldblum) is the butt of his slapstick jokes. Goldblum meets nurse Emma Thompson who is very funny and sexy in this film. And Goldblum, an under-rated comic actor, is also very good in this film. Atkinson steals every scene he is in, however. The film also skewrs Andrew Loyd Webber-type musical productions. This was the era when you couldn't get away from Webber's PHANTOM or avoid Webber's ego if you even just glanced at the entertainment section of your local news.
