Owen C (kr) wrote: What you have to understand is, I had an epiphany when I saw it in the theater as a kid. I had no idea what was going to happen next and it occurred to me that some person had written it and had planned the whole story. It turns out the person that wrote it was Joss Wheadon's grandfather! The experience made me want to learn how to make movies. Some great painted effects and some quirky ideas but it??s really just meant for kids and the pacing seems odd as an adult. Now that I??m an old man and can often tell a movies plot in the first 5 minutes, I remember the feeling of wonder this film gave me in that dark theater. So this movie just holds great nostalgic value for me.

Jon O (mx) wrote: Great movie, very much underrated. My wife didn't like it, but I've always thought it was a very well made movie. If you can get over a couple special effects problems, a couple acting problems in the very beginning, the plot, the score, and the innovative ideas will much more than make up for them. I am a tough, tough movie critic. Most of today's movies (especially sci-fi) I really have a hard time with being impressed with. Most of them are poorly made and way over-hyped for what they actually turn out to be. I may be in the minority when I say this, but I truly feel they don't really make many movies to this quality anymore. The low score on this website for this one is most undeserving.
Greg J (au) wrote: I LOVED this movie. I have no idea how it only has a 55% rating. As far as the "disappointing final act" mentioned in the Critics Consensus, I have no fucking clue who these "critics" are. The final act was fantastic, especially the very final scene, which is *very* moving. This movie is, at its core, about human relationships and how life's meaning is derived from them. It's very funny and clever, but at the same time very poignant and moving. It stayed with me for weeks after I saw it. Best movie I have seen in a long time.
Jimmie J (mx) wrote: Hancock, with a dash of Zatarain's. In terms of story, this film needs major work. Same with the editing. However, I am a fan of New Orleans, Eddie Griffin, Nick Love, and Stephen Dorff.. That's the only reason this film gets a pass.
