Rabbit Hole looks at a couple who are at opposite sides in handling the aftermath of their sons death. Kidman plays Becca while aaron Eckhart plays howie. Together they play a couple who is trying to pick the pieces after their 4 year old sons death. becca wants to sell and get rid of anything that reminds them of their son danny. This pisses off Howie to no end as he wants another child with becca and doesn't want to erase the memory of his son. This puts the two at odds for a good portion of the iflm. At the same time Becca frequently meets the teenage boy responsible for his death and howie meets a woman he sees a group therapy. both of them look towards these people as ones who will in someway help them find their way to peace after this terrible tragedy.Pretty good film. Nicole kidman's becca is interesting because she is trying to hide away and disregard the fact her son is dead. No matter how much she keeps doing this and it makes matters worse in her life. excellent performance from kidman. aaron Eckhart was really great here too. He had an amazingly well acted argument scene with kidman they both went toe to toe there it was sooo good. He also did a good job of playing the husband that wants to keep some kind of memory of their son despite how hard it is to overcome the greif. Miles teller has not changed one bit he looks the same here as he does now and same with Sandra oh. the relationship between Jason and becca in the film is interesting because it's the one person she isn't lashing out at in her life in regards to what happened and he's the biggest person of all to lash out at. its really ironicthere was many motifs involving drawings and certain symbols. interesting lighting usage its like right in the middle of low key and high key lighting. Overall this was a well written story with a Decent ending.

(de) wrote: Kieslowski's sharp eye and unerring feel for the fleeting emotions and minute details that comprise human nature gives this tragic mood piece it's emotional power. Juliette Binoche gives a towering performance as a broken spirit trying to mend herself, her exceptional acting hinges on the subtle physical nuances.
(mx) wrote: A completely different breed of horror and certainly overlooked. With Barker's charm of vision brings a unique look into the macabre and terror of a beaten down film that would have been a king in the 80s.

Until the final scene, it's pretty clear: this woman is the devil himself. But then, there's another one: even the devil (she who seems to be) is only a woman capable of love... who can tell?
(au) wrote: I read something in the Sunday Times Culture section in late 2008 that outlined that they expected this to be an 'epic' to rival in terms of grandeur classics such as 'Gone with the Wind'. Whilst this film gets nowhere near replicating what has endured as one of the greatest ever films made, it is a good film. The combination of the ongoing love story, the well-to-do air of one of the protagonists, mixing with the less formal, more colloquial presentation of the other, the outback Australian scenery make it easy to see why such comparisons were made. The film cannot be judged against such lofty criteria. Rather, it must be seen as an extravagant demonstration of Luhrmann's cinematic vision, with a cast filled with Australian stars promoting Australia and Australian culture.
(jp) wrote: It's wildly uneven in pacing and essentially has no plot with no conclusion. It's just loaded with mindless ape humour and ass kicking from Clint Eastwood to please the male audience. The film isn't horrendous though as it does supply a sufficient amount of laughs to make it mildly amusing on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It was definitely a career low point for Eastwood though, but without him, the film would be simply unwatchable.
