Drawing from the seedy energy of his gorgeous rendering of urban nightlife, Egoyan shoots his characters through slats and behind bars, generating the effect that you're spying on the most intimate moments of their lives (an appropriate choice given the substance of these interactions), interweaving their stories in such a way as to comment on jealousy, loss, and male presumptions in regards to their supposed ownership of the female body. The way he ties everything together is relatively brilliant, refusing to give anything away until he absolutely wants to; the result is a fascinating experience and a great piece of filmmaking.

(us) wrote: Wasn't anywhere near terrible. Very modern style cinematography with an outdated eastern european setting. Lacks the level and quantity of action typical of JCVD & Scott Adkins. But all n all, a solid watch. Pace & story is fine for what it is. These two blend well. Not used to hearing Adkins without the heavy accent. More more more

Toys had some interesting concepts and oddness to it, but was overall was very difficult to watch. The film drags on and soon I did not care what happened to the company or any of the characters.

So surely, making a film about him is a grueling task, but under the direction of Tate Taylor, it succeeds well.Led by a ridiculously amazing performance by Chadwick Boseman, "Get On Up" successfully shares the life of the entertainer from a poor child all the way up to his massively successful life; full of his memorable performances to his legal troubles.
