The Last of the Unjust
A place: Theresienstadt. A unique place of propaganda which Adolf Eichmann called the "model ghetto", designed to mislead the world and Jewish people regarding its real nature, to be the last step before the gas chamber. A man: Benjamin Murmelstein, last president of the Theresienstadt Jewish Council, a fallen hero condemned to exile, who was forced to negotiate day after day from 1938 until the end of the war with Eichmann, to whose trial Murmelstein wasn't even called to testify. Even though he was without a doubt the one who knew the Nazi executioner best. More than twenty-five years after Shoah, Claude Lanzmann's new film reveals a little-known yet fundamental aspect of the Holocaust, and sheds light on the origins of the "Final Solution" like never before.

(ca) wrote: Movie begins pretty good but the last 10 - 15 minutes are totally ripping the movie apart. The Ending ist just plain bad.
(br) wrote: Another low budget Australian horror movie. Little money (was any?) is spent on effects, and the establishment of tension or terror fails miserably. The acting is fair, and Geraldine Hakewill is attractive. That is the only thing going for this ghost story.

(fr) wrote: Such a simple story, yet so inexplicably moving :-) just like the camel I ended up in tears. Definitely worth watching
(ru) wrote: An excellent movie that was brilliantly acted, with well-thought out direction. It does require a knowledge of Indian/Pakistani history, and a grasp of the culture to appropriately understand the point of the film, and why the characters are so brilliantly played. Without a doubt one of the best partition movies I've ever seen - far superior to Deepa Mehta's offering of Earth, which was decent but focused on an outsider's view of the turmoil. I think watching the film about a Punjabi village as a member of the culture makes a huge difference. A

(nl) wrote: The only musical i have ever liked.Wonderful story plot and acting.
(au) wrote: This stressful musical of loud, hysterical songs feels much longer than it should be as it clearly believes that every character must have their own moment to sing and shine to the detriment of the movie's own focus, and its pedestrian sense of humor makes it even more irritating.
(kr) wrote: Not bad, but just not as good as you want it to be.
(nl) wrote: "You love her? I OWN HER!"Great movie about control, courage and love. Strong performances all round, packs a punch aesthetically, good script and enjoyable soundtrack to top it all off. I've only just finished watching it and I'm already looking forward to seeing it again.DeNiro's choice to play Mad Dog instead of Milo was a wise one in my opinion. I've always found DeNiro to perform better in a pressure-cooker kind of role, where his character unravels throughout and Murray fits snug as a glove as Milo with his macho exterior and controlling persona. Thurman's role is a little limited, I feel there could have been more of her- she certainly had the talent to push the character beyond being a token female stuck between a male power struggle but nonetheless the character was engaging and realistic. There is also some good comedy in here too just to add the finishing touches to a pretty stellar meal.
(nl) wrote: This movie is INSANE !!! Just when you thought you knew where it was going it manages to surprise you time and time again, all in a very subtle way. I swear I had my mouth agape more than once.
