Panta O (au) wrote: This is very interesting American-Icelandic adventure comedy co-written and co-directed by Martha Stephens and Aaron Katz, for many reasons. Simple story, two, almost anti-heroes in real life, very slow pace and mostly barren nature... and you get hooked on it! Of course, my hooking could be due to the fact that one of my favourite Australian actors was in it. Starring Paul Eenhoorn (Australian) as Colin and completely insane Earl Lynn Nelson (American) as sex-crazed Mitch, this movie will almost grind its way to your heart. Slowly and relentlessly! A pair of ex-brothers-in-law set off to Iceland in an attempt to reclaim their youth through Reykjavk nightclubs, trendy spas, and rugged camp-sites... and they do it the proper way, without big plans. An adventure of the lonely pensioners, who are still kicking and alive.Very effective directing, a script which was probably only drafted, excellent scenery and two irresistible characters could not fail. Realistically portrayed, it will even annoy at moments, but all that gives you outstanding melancholic yet vibrant resonance.

Abbie P (kr) wrote: I grew up watching boxing with my dad. I realized half way through the film that this is more than boxing greats talking about what is was like being in the ring with Ali. It is about boxing period...the good and the bad. Seeing the greats of boxing past and what a toll the sport took on their bodies is sad. Leon Spinks broke my heart, but he still has the gumption of 30 years ago. The end where the guys speak of Ali and his health was touching.

I don't watch romantic comedies and then complain that the film was a romantic comedy. If you do dig a good ghost story though, this is a fairly decent one with fairly likable leads and detestable baddies. Not going to become a classic anytime soon, but hey, they can't all be. As a side note, this could be the most unnecessarily defensive review of all time. Hooray!
