(es) wrote: I think the film is too good for its audience. I know it got a lot of bad reviews, but if you want to enjoy something well done you have to invest yourself into it. Another factor to the film being panned is that I think to many critics are quick to downgrade a story that looks like conspiracy theory. I think this is an excellent movie for some of the lines gave me chills because the screenplay came from a truthful sense of history. As to the idea that the dialogue was too clever for working class cops, I think that is snobbery of the first order. I think this film is badly underrated.

(fr) wrote: This film is pretty boring really. Not that much happens except for a few people getting killed off by a giant flying reptile. It is not that exciting by a long shot. The only good bits are the bits where you see the monster properly and they are only good because they are really tacky. Nothing looks real in this. It is slow and dull to watch. The whole idea is far better than the film. I would recommend avoiding this one.In one word: Dull
(mx) wrote: This was panned when it came out, partly because a lot of people were really upset with how bawdy it was. It does not deserve its terrible reputation. It is not one of Wilder's best but the first 40 minutes are thoroughly entertaining in a zany screwball comedy kind of way. This is also hands-down the best thing Dean Martin has ever done. He is hilarious here as a very unsubtle, sleazy parody of himself. It goes in too many directions at the end, but overall not at all the terrible film it's purported to be. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a true feast for lovers of psychology...and anyone fascinated with the inner workings of the human mind. The acting is great. The blossoming relationship that occurs is so believable and heartfelt. It's nice to see a solid demonstration of the idea that: although a traumatic event or circumstance may have shaped a person into who they are in the present, doesn't mean that it will shape who they will become in the future....and that ultimately we (with the help of others' generosity) can free ourselves from a troubling past.
