Jakob H (ag) wrote: Although not one of the most influential movies I've ever seen, it was touching indeed. If you are too dense to get past the idea that the man character is in fact doggy poo then this is not the kind of movie for you, and I would direct you over to the "Scary Movie" series. One has to take into consideration of the background of the movie, based off of a book written in 1968 South Korea, the idea of classes and everything having something that are useful for, to have something to can strive to be apart of is wonderful. Yes, the movie deals a lot with death and is quite sad, so if you are into shielding your children from the realities of nature then fine, they aren't mine to raise, but I would not recommend them owning any pets or knowing any of their grandparents, for fear that they may die. All in all, as a children's movie, this was sublime and well worth the 30 minutes, perfectly demonstrating the harsh reality of the world.

Dan H (mx) wrote: did the writer just call up a hustler and ask for some cool words to use? because I've spent A LOT of time in pool halls and it felt like the writer didn't know what he was doing. the acting was terrible. and the movie felt like it didn't know if it was supposed to be able billiards or not. the plot was terrible... i admit, there was a good twist in there. and i liked a bit of the end, but if you want to see a good billiards movie watch... The Hustler, The Colour of Money, or PoolHall Junkies. These were all five star. if anyone out there is planning on making a movie about a poolhall, dont make it out to be like its in the hood. and dont use freddie prinze

Ben C (nl) wrote: An emotional tear-jerking film that overuses the emotions even for its own good, yet is saved by Jack Lemmon's believable performance as the 78-year old Jake Tremont, who, after his wife suddenly collapses, eventually learns to take care of himself with help from his son John, ably played by Ted Danson. And Ethan Hawke, in his early years of acting, gives a good performance as John's son Billy, who has a somewhat recent falling out with his father. Not the best film from Amblin, considering E.T., Back to the Future and Jurassic Park, but is worth a watch.

Alexis G (es) wrote: I am in love with this movie! It's truly a one of a kind Tintin adventure. I've read the comics and watched the cartoons so naturally I had to see this movie and I was not disappointed! The animation is beautiful, the music and special effects keep the viewer captivated and lastly the story is an idea taken from an episode of the show, but changed into something that becomes so original. The writers and directors brought the classic characters we all love to life in perfect balance, it's almost as if they flew out of the comics straight to the big screen. If you're a Tintin fan than this movie is a must have :)
