Alice S (br) wrote: Solid ensemble dramedy about a dysfunctional family who gathers to sit shiva for their deceased patriarch. Secrets come out, punches are thrown, but no love is lost (in both loving and hateful usages of the phrase). Lots of great characters, such as cheating wife Quinn who actually plays a sympathetic and vulnerable part, the gutsy, newly voluptuous matriarch played by dishy Jane Fonda, and the manboy next door whom eldest sister Wendy has to forgive herself for ditching years ago after their car accident left him brain-damaged.

Kade C (es) wrote: The final film in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy is a grand scale epic, that is a fine end to this great Bruce Wayne tale. Though it is a bit out there as compared to the previous two movies, The Dark Knight rises delivers on great character, story, and above all else, heart. Some story decisions toward the end seem a bit rushed, along with a few choice casting decisions. All in all it is a fine film and is a fitting close to arguably the greatest set of comic book movies we will ever see on screen.

Steve S (ag) wrote: *** (out of four) James Stewart is a father who opposes slavery, but still tries to be neutral and not get involved in the War between the States. But, things catch up with him. Well made, slightly bland film. But it does have heart and the great James Stewart.

Allan C (mx) wrote: Brooding western staring Robert Mitchum and Julie London. The film moves at an awfully slow pace, but I'll watch anything with Mitchum and I'm a big fan of Julie London. Certainly worth watching if you're a Mitchum or London fan.

STCENTERPRISE (nl) wrote: I thought it was pretty good film for it's time. At times it got cheesy. I thought that Henry Fonda in this film actually looked very close to how I imagine Abraham Lincoln in appearance for the age he is portrayed in this film. The film had some good stories but I have difficulty determining how much truth went into the actual events depicted in this film.Weather the film was truthful to real events or not I found the film entertaining never the less.

Aj V (mx) wrote: This is one of my favourite pirate movies. It has it all, action, adventure, excitement, drama, romance, even a bit of humour. I loved it.

Johnathon W (kr) wrote: Classic action film that set a new standard for the buddy cop genre, thanks to a superb cast & filmmakers willing to go a little dark with the content. Gibson & Glover are excellent as Riggs & Murtaugh, playing off each other perfectly & giving career best performances. Gibson channels his crazed intensity to perfection while Glover is a fantastic straight man, giving brilliant reactions to every one of Riggs nuttier moments (his "I'm too old for this shit" line remains a classic). They get great support from the rest of the cast, particularly Gary Busy as the villainous Mr. Joshua. Behind the camera, Richard Donner adapts Shane Black's script perfectly and one forgets, after the numerous sequels & current TV show, how dark & edgy the original is. Riggs is a truly disturbed, suicidal man and you truly don't know what will happen next with him, making his tension with Murtaugh palpable. The action is edge of your seat and Black's dialogue is as good as you can get in action movie. All that plus being set during Christmas, it makes for one of the best action movies ever made and another great addition to the holiday movie rotation.
