In this age where the media is made out to be the enemy, seeing this movie is only going to reinforce that perception. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie where the characters are this repulsive. I know there are people out there like Lou in this business, but he's not someone I want to be associated with. And it gets a lot of the TV stuff wrong. Lou and Nina wouldn't spend five minutes having a conversation after she has just said there was only 10 minutes to get this story on the air. Lou would realize that he wouldn't be able to talk to a reporter out live by just shouting something in the control room. Not a fun viewing experience for me.

Carlos M (ru) wrote: It is not very clear what McQueen wants with this unflinching but detached story of survival, as he throws together scenes of brutal realism with theatrical dialogue, cartoonish villains and a plot that seems more interested in the torture than offering any new insight into the subject.

Adam A (br) wrote: To be fair, "The Five-Year Engagement" is brought by a thoughtful cast and is quite genuine to be honest, however those "five years" really felt like five years would have, and that is unfortunate because it makes for a tedious time rather than a fun time to watch.

Ungugia L (gb) wrote: very good paced. i can't believe the reviewers don't like it.

Stu N (it) wrote: Suffering memory loss following an auto accident, Hiroshi restarts his life by returning to medical school. As the rainy season sets in, he begins a dissection class, only to discover that the body he is working on is that of his girlfriend, who died in the accident. In a series of dreamlike sequences, he re-imagines his dead girlfriend, even though reminded of the less beautiful reality of her past by her father. Toss in a pretty but homicidal class mate and a little erotic asphyxiation, and this becomes a moody, atmospheric thriller that remains on a low boil, but never faulters.

Arusa S (au) wrote: maybe there's many teen flicks with this kind of plot, cool boys and uncool girls, or the crossdressing, but Sorority Boys is very funny and a little cute, I really enjoy it. And I love Adam/Adina , he's the funniest part :)

All these describe this totally unique and original masterpiece! moreSo what is it like? The best way to describe is to imagine if you put in a little bit of Paul Morrisseys Blood for Dracula & Flesh for Frankenstein, then added in a little bit of Lynchs Eraserhead, then added in a little bit of Brownings Freaks, and then took your most bizzare nightmare and put it all together, youd have this movie. Youll never see anything even remotely like this. Its extremely weird, but also incredibly acted directed, and the whole experience is breathtaking. Be warned, its very violent at moments, and its not for the squeemish.

Kerry R (de) wrote: It doesn't make much sense because it is a majorly cut up version of book 1. There are 6 books the story continues and gets more involved as it goes on. Hopefully it will make more sense at the end of the 6th movie
