(. Other than that, this movie couldn't be saved. The one good thing that I can say for this movie was that Kay Kay Menon did a great job of creeping me out and that I really liked the song "Oop Cha". It sucks because I love Abhishek but neither his nor Priyanka's performances were praiseworthy. I did yawn once or twice during this movie. It started off slow and I know every movie has to start off with explanations and all but it had been too boring that by the time the action started it was hard to get into it. Unfortunately, Drona was kinda boring. I had high expectations for this one

The message is urgent and gripping. Under Our Skin presents a dramatic and complex story in human terms. Doing this might have added even more credibility to this powerful documentary. I would give Under Our Skin a full 5 stars, except that it could have represented the Lyme skeptics and moderate types a bit more faithfully while still presenting the truth as seen by the movie maker. The movie shows pockets of people who have vested interests - people who don't want their old theories upended with a new paradigm for diagnosing and treating Lyme Disease. Those narrow, outdated theories of Lyme Disease have real consequences in the world, the movie shows, where public awareness is held low, doctors are ill-informed, and patients get misdiagnosed and suffer without proper treatment. These Lyme-skeptical medical authorities are defending narrow, ill-fitting theories that have brought to their scholarly proponents a career's worth of status, prestige and remuneration. And Under Our Skin does an admirable job of revealing, on the screen, a small but powerful set of medical scholars who are defending their earlier theories of Lyme Disease. The movie accounts for low public awareness partly by showing resistance from skeptical health insurers who don't like paying for lengthy and elaborate treatment of Lyme Disease. But Lyme Disease also *can* be progressive and systemically debilitating to the body and maddening to the mind -- and difficult to diagnose in time for best-chance treatments. It *can* be relatively mild and treatable with a month of strong antibiotics in many cases. What's revealed on the screen is a view of Lyme Disease's mechanisms and wide range of symptoms and consequences. Under Our Skin pulls back the curtains on a stage of contested science, political controversy, and medical economics. Though it's been several years since Under Our Skin's debut (which I was pleased to attend) at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2008, it's now out on DVD and is just as relevant today. The highest risk zones in the USA for Lyme include most of the suburban northeast (especially the leafy suburbs and exurbs within 100 miles of New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia), parts of the upper midwest, central California, and other regions within the USA and around the world. And you may not feel the bite either, because ticks have evolved to secrete an anti-itching agent in order to latch on, dine, and escape undetected. Too often, you don't see a tick getting its blood meal unless you know how to check for them and you check regularly enough. Risky activities and sites include: backyards, beaches, hiking, gardening - or just having a picnic, or taking a walk, or sitting on a stone wall in Lyme-endemic areas. Lyme Disease spirochetes lie waiting for transmittal through a tick bite. And increasing awareness will promote more reliable diagnosis and more effective treatments. But it's better to be aware and know how to take precautions. Scary, yes. This is a very important and dramatic movie about Lyme Disease -- a topic that many people know little or nothing about

Perhaps i just don't particularly like this weird other world setting as the backdrop? Maybe so. Anyway; there IS a lot of love about this despite that - i thought the suicide contraptions were both hilarious and greatly inventive, the way some of the characters looked and some of the costumes were nice, the relationship between Louison & Julie was sweet but even after all the zaniness and intrigue i'm left feeling off about it all. Maybe my TV is too old? I don't know. Maybe it's just me, i find the color of the film very off putting for some reason, to the point where it just deters me from enjoying it. I guess i felt the same way about The City of Lost Children. brown. . . I really don't know what to say about Delicatessen, in one moment i think it's well made, visually interesting and sometimes funny but in another i feel like it's this giant mess of brown and just

As expected from Studio Ghibli. Wonderfully written. It's as if watching a moving painting in general. breathtaking and in contrast to the borrowers movie, this is a very refreshing and highly creative, and inspiring animation

APPY FRIDAY THE 13TH ***PLEASE SCROLL TO THE NEXT POST TO READ MY REVIEW ON THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT. They are a unique voice (example of pluralization to a singular phrase). But I do sincerely hope that they continue to make more films in the future. The Polish Brothers are talented, and I feel that this one was just more miss than hit. I liked it, but I couldn't recommend it. The direction of the film doesn't always match up to what is actually going on. My favorite example of this is in Clockwork Orange - "Singin' in the Rain" while beating the shit out of a woman! Jackpot is directed in counterpoint. Film Lesson 101 - SOUND IN COUNTERPOINTSound in Counterpoint is when the background music or pretty much any type of sound in the film goes against the mood of what is going on. . . But oh the style. . . The main character, Sunny, leaves his wife and child to become a full-time karaoke singer across the country. Jackpot does this. In other words, people feel as if they forget about the story and focus too greatly on the style. Critics and audiences alike feel the brothers overindulge in the tone of their films. I have yet to see that film but intend to greatly. Jackpot (Polish, 2001) - **The Polish Brothers have been given criticism ever since their first feature film, Twin Falls Idaho, in 1999. . . So the outstanding rental list is as follows: - Michael Polish's Jackpot (2001)- David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986)- George Roy Hill's Slap Shot (1977) I have already seen Blue Velvet and Slap Shot, but Jackpot was a first-time viewing for me. m. Definetly worth seeing in the theater. Is surely not just a kids movie. The animation is terrific and I loved the story. The best animated film of the year

While he achieves this in a strong enough plot the scripting is weak. Rohmer in his usual style concentrates on social realism through sincere characters

It's greatest asset is probably the quirky set of characters here that create a light humour throughout. A very sweet tale in more ways than one
