Can a chimp be taught human sign language if it is taken at infancy and raised in a human family? This is only barely a story about the experiment. It is about the way an experiment such as this will affect the life of its subject, and the lives of the experimenters. Like any good story, it goes in many unexpected dimensions, some touching and some quite dark. There are so many settings and changes that tt seems almost epic in its 99 minutes. This was directed by James Marsh who created the engaging thriller-documentary "Man On Wire" about the successful effort of Roland Petit to cross between NYC's Twin Towers on a high wire. Project Nim is even better. It has greater scope, and will make you think about the unalterable similarities and differences between humans and animals, and the dangers of blurring the line between them.

(kr) wrote: I think "strange" is quite an understatement. This is a fantastically demented circus that will burn itself into your brain after the first 10 minutes, which are nothing compared to the last 10.

(de) wrote: It's fun and definitely worth seeing once but I've never been able to make it all the way through a second time.

(nl) wrote: What an amazing movie! After reading some of the other reviews, I'm glad I've never actually watched curling, because they say it wasn't "realistic". It's a MOVIE, duh. Are you expecting to watch a documentary? Anyway, I loved the character development and the layout of the story.
(gb) wrote: This film depicts the Italian way of life. The way they think live and relate to each other. True its funny but so is life there.I spent many years there and miss it so
(nl) wrote: Generally heartwarming, butI did not feel like I was looking at Normal Rockwell painting as Netflix said that I'd feel. I was a little put off by the amount of boobs shown in this film, as they were not really necessary to the plot. They could have easily gone for a PG13 if they'd given up so many shots of boobs.

(us) wrote: Movies that are based around minimalism is not usually my film, I usually find it to be basically an excuse to take a very bare bones storyline and stretch it out over a longer period. And granted, that is what happens here, however, for some reason I was interested. The direction I think was what did it, some magnificent shots at times, with great scenery featured. There are seemingly three parts to the movie, Acts in terms of what occurs. The First Act is the lead up to the protagonists wife and daughter dying. The Second Act is him dealing with the pain. The Third Act is based in the woods. The thing is, Rafi Pitts, whilst a good director, doesn(TM)t seem that great an actor. His facial expressions are very one-dimensional and he hardly says a word, his expression mostly stoic, and without any emotion from the actor, it is hard to invest. The film looks good, but with little emotional investment, I(TM)m unlikely to watch it again.
(kr) wrote: Compelling and stark; Bogart turns in a remarkable performance as a compassionate, washed-up attorney. John Derek is equally intense as passionate, vengeful, tough-talking pretty boy Nick Romano. While not by any means a cheerful movie, it features one of the most eloquent "closing argument" speeches made by a lawyer on film.
(ru) wrote: To start off the MCU, this movie is arguably one of the better MCU movies and even one of the best superhero movies of ALL TIME! Robert Downey Jr was a perfectly casted Iron Man, the action is well made(mainly being the Mark I escape scene), but I only have like 2 flaws.1.The Villain is underdeveloped.2.The Last Fight scene isn't that great.Besides those, you will be entertained and love the taste!
(gb) wrote: OK Juliette Lewis is in it( the best ever) but even her voice couldn't make this watchable SLOW
(br) wrote: Be warned: This is both my favorite Julie Roberts and Hugh Grant film. Both of whom I enjoy watching on the silver screen. The basic premise is Roberts is an A-List Hollywood star, who falls for an ordinary bookstore owner, Grant. They obviously come from two very different worlds, but you know from the start that they are destined for each other. Part of the fun is the journey that takes them down that path. A smart, romantic comedy in which the two leads show real chemistry. Rather funny at times and far from a shallow, one-note movie. Of special note, is the soundtrack which has some truly greats songs that enhances the movie.
