The Manhattan Project

The Manhattan Project

Named after the World War II-era program, the plot revolves around a gifted high school student who decides to construct a nuclear bomb for a national science fair. The film's underlying theme involves the Cold War of the 1980s when government secrecy and mutually assured destruction were key political and military issues.

A teen and his girlfriend make an atomic bomb with plutonium stolen from a scientist dating his mother. He then displays their horrible powers at the New York Science Fair, but the Secret Service isn't pleased with his actions. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Lee H (jp) wrote: I've seen worse football films ( Green Street ) but that ain't saying much. What the film has in it's favour is a great soundtrack that works really well with the feel of the film and a setting that for once is not in London. What let's it down is it all feels a little fake ( That's what you get when middle class art students try to do a film about working class hooligans ) and never really makes a point leaving you wondering what was the message we were supposed to be reading into. Another plus is I've realised how good Ultravox were before Midge Ure took over.

Brian H (gb) wrote: I love Ray Romano and Kevin James and while they give good performances here, this movie just isn't very funny and boring. It seemed very pointless and i'm still wondering why exactly this movie was even made. It's a shame to see two good talents go to waste in a film like this.

Naoya K (us) wrote: This is a real surprise. This is a great film! You should not confused by eccentricity of the setting and the character of the film. Beneath the surface, there is totally a new and vivid fiction that successfully mixes the action entertainment (with some elements of love story and suspense) and Buddhist lessons about our karma. While there are so many films that set Christian lessons or Christianity itself as the center theme, there are so small amount of Asian films that features Buddhism as the theme - this is one of it. It is also a first-class entertainment full of suspense and good wire actions, although there are some scenes more violent than they need to be. The way they establishes the fantasy atmosphere by fantastic lighting and with some properties is also great. This is the film I'd definitely recommend as one of masterpieces of Hong Kong cinema to those who have not watched them much yet.

Mike C (us) wrote: Cute movie, but there were some eye-rolling moments but there were also some heartfelt moments. It was pretty good entertaining kids movie.

Amy L (it) wrote: very enjoyable film and loved seeing the four iconic actors (Garner,Eastwood, Sutherland, Jones) pull together this fast paced and thrilling space film ..Four aging astronauts save the day and the earth on the mission to retrieve a Russian spy satellite, unknown until they get there that it is really 6 nuclear warheads. keeps one in suspense until the end.
