(it) wrote: Interesting-ish, but quite shoddy. The film could only have been made by someone with Tischler-Blue's access and it's pretty obvious she isn't a filmmaker, so the hatchet job starts to seem inevitable after awhile.

(it) wrote: Completely fun, pacey action flick that does not waste time - unlike so many today that seem to think quick cuts and careful CGI simulation of verite are more engrossing than just getting down to business. Brolin's conflict and character are established in definite terms and then we go straight into a series of fantastic pursuit, escape and investigation sequences that elaborate on who he is and why. Opposite him is another frustrated male of failed `70s aspirations, this one wildly racist and bordering on outright pedophilia. In addition, Hedaya serves to provide a defining contrast as a dirty cop who stayed in and has had years to cultivate his rage towards Brolin. His beetle-browed fury is fantastic, as always. Julie Carmen is a charmingly potential romantic prospect, who assists Brolin while inadvertently lending premise for a Boricua street gang to chase the chaser. In the end, we have Brolin's daughter given a choice much more literal and unambiguous than that presented at the start for her between parents. It's a little neat and quite timely, but satisfying nonetheless as a terrific action picture that has a point and gets right to it.

Cushing must cure him of his insanity but must preform a brain transplant beforehand. Frankenstein is a real son of a bitch in this 5th Hammer outing & shows little respect to Anna snapping for her to make coffee or breakfast or just giving her an old time rape. It's all about Frankenstein's wants & primal needs that it's hard to get behind the sinister doctor even though this is just as good as other Frankenstein outings.
(nl) wrote: Amistad is a well made film. The introduction is very intense, and then the movie turns into a political debate. That's fine, most of it is really well done. But some of those scenes do tend to drag. The cast is overall very good, McConaughey is believable as the lawyer fighting for the slaves rights, and Morgan Freeman is a fellow abolitionist. It has some powerful and memorable scenes, but also some dull and forgettable ones. The movie does tend to drag as it exceeds 2 and a half hours. It is well made, well acted, and pretty interesting though, and definitely worth seeing. Amistad gets 3.5/5 stars (B).
(kr) wrote: Tuesday Weld's finest hour? Prime example of her "all-american unwholesomeness". Anthony Perkins is great as creepy (as usual) Dennis Pitt, delusional man just out of a mental institution. He wraps up lovely Sue Ann (Tuesday) in his outlandish fantasies, but who is manipulating whom? Plus, Beverly Garland, the tramp from Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, gives her best performance ever as Sue Ann's beastly, ill-fated mother.Unfairly ignored black, black, black comedy. Precursor to (and better than) Natural Born Killers.

Realism, fear, violence, pain, gore, everything war has ever been is transcripted in what is an example of perfect direction.
