So difficult to like Saint Laurent's character as his behaviour becomes more and more volatile, but for someone who doesn't like fashion I was gripped.
John A (us) wrote: Beautifully bleak. I loved the transitions between scenes using sound, Ceylan's extraordinary use of light, and the elliptical editing that pushes "important" scenes to mere background in favor of the more significant drama going on within the family. I did think the second half was more effective than the first, playing as a kind of psychological horror film--everyone was completely unpredictable. And the final scene as a cap to this film shows what the Coen's A Serious Man could have been.

Evan T (au) wrote: Classic Western, classic character. The epitome of the John Wayne Cowboy character. the movie was as classic western as it gets.PS: personally I don't like the mid century aesthetic of the Cowboys. I kept seeing the Marlboro Man and not a cowboy. The clothes were too modern (at the time) and it bugged me. I don't need 100% period accuracy but it felt like late 60s pretending to be 1880s.
John B (mx) wrote: Mothra is always an uncomfortable mix with Godzilla, Rodan and the rest of them. Someone once commented suggested to me that Mothra could do no better than "piss off" Godzilla or Ghidorah in battle. Thankfully we have just Mothra alone in her debut and it is thoroughly entertaining.
