(it) wrote: Was a huge favorite of mine in high school and then slowly went down the list as I grew up and grasped a greater appreciation for film making. It has a great soundtrack, an amazing cast of characters, and is filled with both weepy scenes and laugh-out-loud scenes. One thing I never did understand is why at the end Samantha's character picked the rich-boy jerk over her childhood best friend Jasper whom she loved her whole life (played by cutie Josh Hartnett.) Jasper truly cared about her no matter what, even if her happiness meant her being with another guy. You don't meet a guy like that every day. She should have been with Jasper! But his character is what makes this movie worth watching!!! SPOILER: This is almost a carbon copy of A Walk to Remember.

(br) wrote: I should actually give this an extra 1/2 rating for the sugar boobies. They were greatly appreciated; in fact the babes are my favorite part of Andy Sidaris's Triple B even if they had 80s hair. There are bullets & bombs but the rest is melodrama that I would see on the afternoon soaps. Darby Hinton is sorta a low grade Magnum PI but he sure shags a lot of tail..in fact he fucked everyone female involved in his case except the old hag & even then I bet he would have given the chance...I must say I just really liked the nudity. Hinton's neighbors who use his shower & end up in his bed. His race car driving friend who likes to take her top off when they are being chased & shot @. It's almost like a low grade Russ Meyer..that's not very good. I used 'low grade' twice in this review but I can't think of anything else to describe it but it's low grade entertainment & it is funny @ times; Hinton talks into his tape recorder to help you along w/ the plot in case you couldn't follow it along the way (because I couldn't)...I I know is I liked the boobies
(br) wrote: There are many echoes of "High Noon" in this 1970s semi-revisionist western about lawman Burt Lancaster determined to bring in a wanted man despite all the various community stakeholder groups wanting him to leave town for their own various interests. Lancaster is fine as the single minded lawman, as is Robert Ryan as the timid town sheriff. Although the story does borrow heavily from "High Noon", the script is smart and is filled with some terrific sharp dialogue. And as an aside, I liked that all of the younger cowboys looked like a bunch of mutton chopped hippies.
(nl) wrote: just an adorible movie, ive watched it many times and to me its one of thosse movies you could watch over & over! about a rich girl and a bachelor, he has 3 children he has to raise by himself he decides to hire a houskeeper....for his apartment, then decides the apartment is far to small for all five of them, and gets an offer from a sister in law of his to a house being put out in the country, he agrees and the house gets recked by a train because the guy moving it gets side tracked by the sexy...carefree cinzia (sophia) and the friend "angelo" feels in his depted and leads him to the houseboat he owns and gives it to him for free they fix it up and fall in love of coarse over time and she misses her own country in italy and still wants to mary mr winters. another woman comes into mr winters life "carlyn" that sister in law that wanted to sell him that house that got ruined! anywhaes she asks him to marry her and says that shes always loved him but her sister beat her to him, they acept to marrie oneanother, and when chinzia finds out she hast to leave as much as shes conected to all the kids robert, micheal, and the little girl, and exspecialy the feelings for mr. winters...she wouldint want to see him and carlyn togather! so when she goes to leave he thinks of it as a big loss if she left him now, even though she cant cook, he loves her and they get married happi ever after!!!!

Especially in the beginning, with a great score that I felt really worked when it played and added to scenes, editing that was fantastic, and great cinematography including a few single shot scenes that were brilliant (those happened all throughout.) But the whole movie has a great performance from Chiwetel Ejiofor, really great performances from (I think underrated) Benedict Cumberbatch, Brad Pitt, and Paul Dano, decent direction, and writing that isn't bad or anything, but I was surprised that it won the Oscar. It also had some humor (I'm pretty sure it was on purpose because the writer has previously co-wrote Undercover Brother and created the Barbershop series.) I also liked Paul Giamatti for the little he was in there. The story is great, and I think is what mostly holds this all together, and makes it fresh.
