The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima

In 1917, three shepherd children living just outside Fatima, Portugal have visions of a lovely lady in a cloud. The anticlerical government wishes to squelch the Church; reports of religious experiences are cause for serious concern. Yet the children stand by their story, and the message of peace and hope the Lady brings. In the last vision, attended by thousands of people, the Lady proves her reality with a spectacular miracle that is seen by everyone present. Based on actual events at Fatima in the summer of 1917.

Art S (fr) wrote: John Payne plays a washed-up boxer driving a cab who catches his wannabe gold-digger wife with another guy. This sets the wheels in motion and the screws gradually tighten on Payne in true noir style. Turns out the other guy is a diamond thief who has trouble with his fence and the fence's tough guy assistant (played by noir stalwart Jack Lambert) over Payne's wife's involvement in the heist. When she turns up dead, the cops come looking for Payne. After having reality literally ripped away from him in one crazy scene, he has to use his knuckles to fight his way to the truth. Director Phil Karlson knows his noir sets (see also Dark Alibi, Kansas City Confidential, or The Phenix City Story) and he lays them all out for us here (late night drug store, boxing ring, all-night caf, waterfront, expensive upper class apartment, neon lit or darkened streets of New York, and unusually the Broadway footlights). Perhaps there isn't as much a sense of dread as in other 1950s noirs and perhaps Payne is a little too wooden in the lead but for solid genre fare, look no further.

Sofi G (au) wrote: "Love Actually" is not a Fabulous movie, but for me, this film made me think about different things. Yes, a lot of people can say that it is stupid and vanilla movie where everything is too unrealistic. But you can try to look on the other side to this movie. There are many wonderful moments, such as the narration in off in the beginning of the movie, or this scene when Mark declares his secret love for Juliet (really weepie) and others. I really enjoyed the relationship between son and father. Daniel and Sam - Ohhhhhhh, It`s so sentimental part of the film for me. I always cry at such moments, maybe because I have no father :( Also, this scene when Harry bought a gift another woman. It`s disgusting. And he knew that this decision will have dire consequences. He could lose his beautiful family.....What I really did not like? Porn actors - if I remember their names were John and Judy. It was utter rubbish. Bill Nighy - at first I even took him for a real rock star. But special attention, I want to draw to Mia. She had not a lead role. But I liked her. You ask me why? She is like fallen woman. But I will say that there is no. Mia lonely, young and beautiful girl. And yes - she is cunning cutie (oh oh). Don`t judge a book by its cover. I saw it just the girl who was looking for her love, and in fact she was unhappy. Put it in a nutshell, I want to say there are different situations in this movie, some of them dramatic, others funny, sometimes touching but never corny. Moreover, It made me laugh, it made me cry, hug everyone, tell everyone how much I loved them!!! The film is really kind and nice, and I would advise you to watch it. My vote is nine. Xo xo

Russell T (gb) wrote: Watched this on the plane to LA. Very interesting main theme with the theft of a series of paintings from the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston, but the sub story, with voiceovers of Isabella and her buyer (who I couldn't help thinking must have done very well out of the whole arrangement) got a bit much, and I was wishing for the remote control to fast forward through those segments by the end. The detective was a very interesting character. Would have liked to have heard more about him. Wait for the DVD and rent. You won't watch it more than once, but it's worth taking a couple hours out to watch.

Kira H (gb) wrote: I loved the action in it and the acting was alright... :D It's just the fact that the ending was stupid and the story didn't really seem to have a point... lets just say that this is the first time I actually ever wanted to get up and leave in the middle of the movie... :(

MeLany C (jp) wrote: About a guy that falls in love and those everything he can to show how much he loves her. My favorite quotes from Andrew Lowery to Tracy Lind. I die for you, i came from the dead for you, i kill for you, i ate him after i kill for you, i sacrifice for you. That means I LOVE YOU. Awwwwwww love it.

Tara H (au) wrote: A sequel to the more successful Smoke. A bit self-indulgent, but not all bad. I enjoyed Madonna's brief cameo as a singing telegram girl, which if I'm honest, was my main reason for watching it!
