Dann M (fr) wrote: Incredibly fun and wildly entertaining, Coyote Ugly is an irresistible guilty pleasure. Somehow the film's able to mix exploitation with sentiment and romance. The story follows a young girl named Violet who leaves home and heads off to New York City to become a songwriter, but when she's unable to make it she takes a job at a seedy bar to make ends meet. Featuring Piper Perabo, Maria Bello, Bridget Moynahan, and John Goodman, the casting is pretty good. Perabo especially, as she has tremendous chemistry with her co-stars and is able to exude an innocent naivete. And, the soundtrack adds a lot of energy and excitement to the film. On the surface Coyote Ugly is sexually gratuitous and trashy, but underneath there's a charming story about chasing one's dreams and overcoming fears.

Christopher S (es) wrote: Only modestly entertaining 70s espionage action-thriller starring Chuck Norris in full action-hero mode. It does have its fun cheesy action moments, but overall it's pretty bland as it plods through a hokey government conspiracy plot - the action scenes are few and far between. Falls short of the utter ridiculousness of the action movies Norris went on to make in the 80s.

Jason D (es) wrote: Mindwarp is an interesting film in the vain of Def-Con 4 about a young woman (Marta Alicia in her first and last movie role) whose futuristic world consists of spending her life hooked up to a machine that distorts reality and fleshes out her fantasies. She becomes fed up with it and fights with the system in order to experience the real world. Unfortunately, the real world happens to be a post-apocalyptic hell hole where Bruce Campbell (in a fun role) seems to be the only human left that nails her within minutes and are fighting off cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers (yeah, basically ChUDs) who are led by the prophetic and insane Angus Scrimm (also in a fun role). The last half of the movie is JUST like watching The Hills Have Eyes 2 basically. The film begins to end in a very unpredictable and insane way, but then goes back on the hackneyed path and ends just as I expected it to end, which was a slight bummer (especially since I was enjoying the direction it was going in). Not a bad film at all. Yeah, it was made in 1992, but it had 80's cheese written ALL over it, plus we get to see some early (and fun) special effects by a young KNB Effects team. Good stuff.

Ken S (gb) wrote: After directing the TV film "Duel" Spielberg made his move to the big screen, making his theatrical feature film debut with this quirky film based on the true story of Lou Jean Poplin, who after getting out of jail fellow convict husband out of pre-release jail and kidnaps a state trooper in Texas in order to get to Sugarland and get her son back, who has been taken away by the state. It is a good film, it shows that Spielberg quality, which is evident pretty early on. Hawn is really good, and the supporting cast is solid as well. I would definitely recommend checking this film out.
