People who hate Russians (as the Finnish Renny Harlin evidently does) will also get a kick out of it. Otherwise, it isn't very good. It has some nice production values and cinematography but most other elements are poor, particularly the acting talent of the lead and the weak script.

It's a sort of folk tale in the modern day about a kid who has to go into a mountain with a lot of help from crazy looking traditional Japanese spirits called yokai. Pretty impressive to watch, though there is some corny cartoonish humor.

(es) wrote: Even though this wasn't the best movie I still always seem to enjoy watching it.Woody Harrelson is always just fun and with Wesley Snipes they seem to make a good pair.Forgot that the female role was played by Jennifer Lopez and that she gives us nudity, which was surprising.Chris Cooper has a small role as a pyromaniac that keeps trying to burn attendants.Good amount of action and it goes by at a fairly good pace. Robert Blake is good as the mean boss of Snipes and Harrelson.
(br) wrote: Thoroughly nasty plunge into the seedy world of international drug dealing. The centre of the film is a cut-price re-run of Apocalypse Now, with a death-loving renegade colonel lording it over a tribe of natives and committing atrocities against those in the drug trade. Deodato is a consummate action director - no one quite conjures up jungle-based unease like him; the media world is nearly as sordid here as in Cannibal Holocaust; and the gore-moments are really eye-poppingly gratuitous. All adds up to a really foul vision of human depravity, although the script is no carefully-plotted machine.
