He would be the last person I would pick to satisfy the role he played, but he surprised me because he fit it so well. Not really a song/dance movie at all (only one song) which is probably why it didn't fare too well in India despite being under the Yash Raj Films banner. Also, since there isn't any real lead actress because the story isn't really focused on that aspect, this pretty much belongs to Ranbir Kapoor. Supporting actors are decent too though. Story is pretty realistic but the progress of Ranbir's company could have been shown a little bit more than just showing sales charts suddenly rising. Direction could have been better but Shimit Amin did a pretty good job.

(nl) wrote: If you're looking for "Gone with the Wind," "A Streetcar named Desire," "Citizen Kane," etc., then you've come to the wrong place. This movie is the epitome of everything that is Steven Seagal. No "Best Actor" awards here; Seagal's acting is as cheesy as ever, but to each his own. His fake Brooklyn accent, alone, makes this movie enjoyable. Now, throw in vulgar one-liners, brutal hand-to-hand, bone-cracking fight scenes, and bad guys who smoke crack and date hookers and you have yourself an instant classic. This movie is a must-own for any Seagal aficionado, as it is the highlight of every that was great about him in his early career. Don't get me wrong, I like the old Arnold, Stallone, Norris, and even Van Damme movies as well, but there is something about the first several Seagal movies that makes them extra special to me. Maybe, it's the way that he only knows how to make one facial expression. Maybe, it's his charisma, or lack there of. Maybe, it's his way of breaking arms first and asking questions later. Maybe, it's his way of being hilarious, without trying to be. Who knows?! Who cares?!? Watch this movie, and stop taking every movie (and life) SO SERIOUSLY!!

(jp) wrote: The birth of the atomic age, and all the drama it could have represented onscreen, comes off as a flat and lifeless abbreviated history lesson here. The film has nothing to say, has no true moral compass, and is neither a cautionary tale nor attempts any meaning behind the catharsis or such weapons of mass destruction.

It examines British society after the Great War through the eyes of Olympic runners Abrahams & Liddell and focuses on what drives both men to be greats. Ultimately Chariots of Fire is a look at two men who found ways to stay true to their beliefs in the face of what society expected of them.
