Yes, the 1994 remake was cute and ultimately harmless, even if it was not in the spirit of the original shorts (kids just being kids, with no forced comedy or celebrity guest stars to distract.) But apparently, somebody wanted another film like this. Well, here it is. And it's directed by the man whose most famous project is "Chairman of the Board." You get what you deserve.

A wonderful piece of film making, with Joan Fontaine in her finest performance in her career. She plays a character from the age of twelve to around thirty and she's truly believable just as Sissy Spacek always is. There's also the young and handsome french Louis Jourdan playing her long time love. It's simply one of the most emotional and most tear dropping films I will ever see.Letter From an Unknown Woman is set in the year 1900 in Vienna where a famous pianist, Stefan Brand has just return to his home after a concert night, he's about to be married in the morning. But he reserve a thick letter from a dead woman who don't reveal her name and tells that she used to live in his neighborhood watching him and listen to him playing the piano since she was a little girl and in the letter she have written down every feeling and every single encounter with him.Letter From an Unknown Woman is simply one of it's kind, it's a extremely sad emotional story about an unfulfilled love, and how many people that don't appreciate it. Or realize that the love was right in front of you. She starts a serious of affair with him, but never tell her name. But on the other land it's also her fault for not doing so, because of her fear of being judge and things being to perfect. My conclusion is that this movie has real feeling supported great acting performances. Thumbs up.
