Chris G (kr) wrote: This movie great if you can assume two things. 1) Your actually here to see Crockett and Tubbs (because you know the back-story, and you loved the series) and 2) It's audience appreciates the 80s series for what it was, an over-acted, over-stimulating, over-emotional, action packed, non-stop music video. If you come with those expectations, this movie is great. Great soundtrack, great plot, great cinematography, and interesting characters. The over-acting is wonderful, spot on with the original, only in a newer format. over-acting is kind of a lost art. The downside is that if you didn't watch the 80s series, this probably isn't the right movie for you. You'll get confused, and you won't appreciate the characters (especially the villains.) If you want to see this movie and enjoy it, first go watch Season 1 of the 80s series on Netflix, then come back to this movie. You will appreciate it more, and it might rank high on your movie list.

Garrick J (ca) wrote: This was such a beautiful film...great French cinematography, cleverly acted. The emotional closeness between the father and his four sons is something that we Anglo=Saxons find very foreign, yet is is extremely beautiful, touching and intimate. There are moments when I felt like I had lost myself in this movie, to be then suddenly jolted back to earth when something "French" happened, ie foreign to me and my culture. It reminded me that no matter how universal feeling are, there are some cultural differences and modes of behaviour that are truly unique among cultures. I liked this movie.

Steve G (us) wrote: Taylor comes off as particularly unlikable. Neither is Powell, come to think of it. Nor Beckett. Only Stack. And I didn't even realize it was him until half-way through the movie. What a stud! I'll never watch Unsolved Mysteries the same way, again! Not a great film, but good enough.

Michael M (gb) wrote: As with Saludos Amigos before it, it's very hit or miss, but it's more hit that Saludos. The animation is fast paced, and the story focused segments can be very amusing. However, the more edutainment segments are again a little boring, the musical moments went on a bit too long, as did the moments of watching a horny Donald chase down Hispanic girls. It's only 70 minutes long, but it still manages to drag far too often, and I found myself getting bored quite frequently. I do like these new characters though, particularly Jose Carioca who I find incredibly charming and delightful, but their movie simply isn't very good. I wish it was better, because there are some genuinely enjoyable moments here, but with how much it drags and how often I found myself bored I just can't give it that much credit. In the end it's just okay.
