Al M (mx) wrote: Featuring a provocative premise about a Christian summer camp invaded by evil forces (evil forces beyond those of the campers rampant teenage desire), Camp Hell never quite delivers on its promise. A few good scenes do little to detract from overall malaise and boredom that permeate the film. I wanted to like the film a lot, but it never quite manages to take its horror or its critique of fundamentalism to a high enough level to make either aspect seem interesting.

Tamara K (us) wrote: Top! Anthony Hopkins is great in his role. Ending is super, love the prisoners in that. Keeps me thinking about how we are under pressure by dominion, even when we don't know it. Freedom is sooo important. It's behind those fences that we build all by ourselves. Love the message of the movie: always keep your illusions, that's what's keeps you going on.

Christopher A (kr) wrote: A classy, edge of your seat thriller. Fun all round!

Eric S (gb) wrote: A really dumb movie. Maybe if you're drunk or high you'll find it funny. Most scenes are just ridiculous and for the most part pointless. Just a bad case of trying too hard to be funny. Didn't even like the cop/truck smash-fest at the end. Stupid.

alan j (gb) wrote: Searing and provocative message film about the turmoil in the early 70's and how the government could have reacted; Watkins is excellent as posing "What If" questions, then laying out a chilling scenario. The film has a very real feel to it, although the desert scenes were rather predictable. I thought the banter between the tribunal members and the dissidents was more powerful. This is certainly a film that forces you to think and should not be missed.

George M (ca) wrote: Good, but not enough. The connection between two narratives is so weak.

Shaun B (ag) wrote: Enjoyable kids film.

Dave J (gb) wrote: Its almost two different movies split in half. Both of them work. The upstairs downstairs drama that is familiar to many is enough to make a movie in itself, with the great cast and writing. The story actually gets multiple layers going before bringing in even more fun the second half. All around a great period representation of the English upper class and their household behaviors.
