Myaka T (gb) wrote: Another bust movie. :( Very boring, story is so lame.

Jacob B (gb) wrote: Pros: It had a little sense of humor. The music was heavy metal. Cons: Although the animation was a little good, it didn't make the movie better. Not better than the first Heavy Metal See it if you love animated movies, science fiction movies, movies with heavy metal music. But if you've seen the first Heavy Metal. Don't be surprised if it's not better than the first.

John M (de) wrote: It's trying to be a parody but it's also plot-wise the most generic teen movie ever made. It's just hard to define what kind of movie it is, not because it's original, but it doesn't know what it's trying to be, other than a teen comedy that worked in the 90s, but looking back, not so much.

Paul D (kr) wrote: Aside from offering a beautiful naked alien chick and about 10 minutes of Patrick Stewart...this film is quite an overwhelming mess! Space Vampires? More like Space Zombies! Not that there is a single scene of this film that made any sense whatsoever. Yikes! What a train wreck!

Conor F (ag) wrote: Damn near perfect. Groundbreaking for the time and it still holds up.

Nathan H (it) wrote: Seems to be a response to the success of "Patton," rather than a cinematic attempt to portray the life or career of Douglas MacArthur. Though Peck gives it his all, it feels contrived...hack work, at best...Silly dialogue, overly grandiose battle scenes which paint MacArthur as a fearless hero and leader...In a decade (the '70s) where filmmakers were constantly stretching and redefining the boundaries of cinema, this movie feels like a step backward. When you consider that "The Deer Hunter" was made around the same time, this movie is downright stupid and ridiculous. Everything feels staged, just as it did in the war and Bible epics of the '50s and early '60s. The only relevance (or use) for "MacArthur," currently, is to watch and compare it to all of the other brilliant war movies that came out around the same time, and in the years after. Watch this right after watching "The Deer Hunter," or right before you watch "Full Metal Jacket," and you'll see, before your very eyes, the evolution of war cinema... "MacArthur" will feel like a relic, a misguided clunker, and rightly so.

Ben R (us) wrote: This was a very interesting hidden gem from the 70s. Not your typical rape revenge, but played more like an early prototype for a lifetime movie gone graphic and creepy. People shit on Marguax Hemingway and her acting ability but I think there was nothing wrong with her at all as a leading actress and I can give you 5 names off the top of my head of awful women, that continuously get leading roles to this day, but I'll leave that out of this review. That being said, I thought this was really good and very creepy for a mid 70's thriller that feels alittle Brian Depalma lite...which isn't such a bad thing In my opinion. Chris Sarandon played such an absolute creepy piece of vile garbage in this, he plays the slimey reptile of a human being perfectly. A young Mariel Hemingway plays Margaux's little sister in this, and at her very young age showed you her range trying to understand what she walked in on during the rape scene between Margaux and Sarandon. This film also had some of the most beautiful late 70s cinematography I've ever seen for a "Cheap Exploitation film". There was nothing cheap about this film at all and for someone to just pass it off as such really needs their head checked. This film had style and substance to match, it wasn't super over the top and it wasn't boring. This film was a good watch that held my interest and didn't let up. I'd recommend this for folks like me who like a good realistic rape/revenge drama that is ugly and beautiful all at the same time.
