The Prince and Me torrent reviews

Whit B (us) wrote: Let's face it, these "true-crime" movies are hit or miss, and more often than not they miss. This film is no exception. None of the actors seemed to want to be there, with the possible exception of Corin Nemec as Speck. I'm not sure whether I think his performance was artistic genius or just annoying. I don't really balme him or the other actors, some of the lines were so cheezy and forced I don't think anyone could have pulled them off. Not the worst true killer flick out, but no where near the best.

Serendipity J (ca) wrote: meh. a few gestures and conversations that are positively realistic but otherwise, not really...riveting?

Thomas P (it) wrote: A sad, wistful and achingly beautiful film which doesn't try to get ahead of itself. In dealing with a sorrowful situation, it remains understated. In a typically Japanese, and Kore-Eda, fashion, Nobody Knows allows the audience to feel the emotion and the beauty of the drama by limiting the emotions of the actors. The children play their roles superbly, and the film feels a lot shorter than it is. When it finishes, you even wish it had longer to go.

Casey B (nl) wrote: Some compare it to Lynch, but it has none of the suspense or flow and the surrealism doesn't come close. This film was awkward with bad acting and amateurish camerawork. Some scenes were decent with humour or visuals.

Stefan G (ca) wrote: Thirty years after it was originally made, this film's age and limited budget show in quite obvious ways. The animation is not as well done as other anime films of the day, which I found to be odd considering the kind of high quality that could have been achieved even before the film's release. I don't seem to mind too much though, since the art style works on a lot of levels. The story is alright, even if it's a bit absurd, but the main problem is that the pacing is too fast. Because the film-makers tried to cram everything into 80 minutes, the film tends to move from one scene to another way too quickly, and not in a very seamless manner. The characters themselves aren't too bad, and the main protagonist (the eponymous D) comes across as a really cool action hero. However, this is one of several anime films with English dubbing that leaves much to be desired, and so the acting is not so great. If there's any reason why I do like this film, aside from the art style, it's the fight scenes, which, thanks to the variety of amazing fighting styles, are surprisingly well-done. Although this film is very flawed, it's also a film that I enjoy, if mainly because it appeals to me. It's dated, but it has a certain charm to it.

Mark H (mx) wrote: My 200th film watched this year. Twisted Nerve is a great entertainer that shows how far someone would go to achieve their goals. It plays like a hammer horror film, but has a much deeper storyline that advances the plot. A film full of atmosphere and thrills. Worth watching if you can track it down.

Nicholas D (br) wrote: It was going to be tough to top Goldfinger, this film tries a little too hard and drags a lot, but it still has a good performance from Connery and contains some entertaining action scenes.

Nik B (ag) wrote: A really great screenplay and I was very impressed with Sinatra's performance. MacLaine, too. Some cliched moments from today's standards, but hard to say it wasn't fresh in 1958. Just proves that there are two kinds of girls in this world. Those that will do anything to have someone to cling to, and those that will deny the truth to avoid the unsure path.

Tatsuhito K (jp) wrote: While it's not a groundbreaking film and the jokes are rather hit-and-miss, it's perfectly passable and entertaining enough for this type of film. "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" works best when it satirizes the drama and absurdity seen in the music business, and although the humor is all over the place, the catchy soundtrack and Andy Samburg's performance will keep you interested for 80 minutes.
