A cardinal is arrested for treason against the state. As a prince of his church, and a popular hero of this people, for his resistance against the Nazis during the war and afterward his resistance when his country again fell to a totalitarian conqueror. In prison, his interrogator is determined to get a confession of guilt against the state from the strong willed man, and thus destroy his power over his people. The verbal and psychological battles are gripping and powerful - not even the increasing pressures put upon the Cardinal can force him to weaken; not even solitary confinement, continuous blazing light in his cell, sleeplessness, efforts to persuade him he is going mad. And yet, in the deepening conflict, the superb indomitable prisoner, creates a tremendous pity on his tormentor, the interrogator. Written by alfiehitchie

Silvio S (fr) wrote: The worst movie I ever saw. Its a ripoff of a terrible movie. Some of the worst special effects I've seen in a modern movie; retarded acting and plot, and pointless characteres that arent even killed by snakes. And the worst ending Ive ever seen in a movie. It wasnt even so bad it was funny, because it seems like they tried to make it a serious movie.
Caralee C (jp) wrote: we actually saw this at philly film fest with the director sitting in front of us who was very euro-trash. we loved watching his reaction as much as noticing out own-liked it-took all the elements of horror-but honestly-towards the end-it became so graphic-he should have stayed with the suspense vs. the blood-but hey typical italian horror directorship...

Justin A (fr) wrote: Lovely characters and a nice little quaint film. It's very dark at times, but that is part of its appeal. This is one of the must-watch romance comedies ever made.

Alex M (au) wrote: Robert Pattinson proves here he can star in a romantic movie without it feeling too hokey. Reese Witherspoon is also great, and Christoph Waltz fits his role like a glove. Plus, this film has one of the most lovable elephants you'll ever see on film. 8/10.
