(us) wrote: this was a nice little film from Wes Craven his first real drama (besides horror) in his career...he does well here...the only thing was that I just didn't feel it pulled me in and affected me...it just didn't seem to be powerful enough for the audience to care about the characters...but I did like it...it just could have been really powerful that's all...

(de) wrote: It's a slightly flawed, but still very good film. It's not Milos Forman's best work, but let's keep in mind, his other works include One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Amadeus. The novel is phenomenal and the film is very ambitious indeed. See it for the incredible music and the amazing cast, including the legendary James Cagney, the versatile Brad Dourif and the wonderful Elizabeth McGovern.
