Really, I could swing violent sucker punches all over this strident vanity project, but it would be like kicking an old man on crutches. Now, who the fuck thought funding this embarassing trash was a good idea? This is not an offense to Mrs. Dutoit as a person, but this is one of the worst films that I have ever seen. Sure thing is, it was rotten enough to qualify as a 90-minute hoot in a room full of not-so-sober young adults at a party. I think I laughed here more than I did in all the Will Ferrell films I have seen combined. Thank you, Anne-Sophie.

The mother is an amazing character and I think she alone makes the movie worth watching. Of all the gay romantic comedies out there, this one is probably my favorite. It's a pretty good film, but not fully developed...worth watching for the hopeless romantic inside of you... This was a pretty good movie. It's a gay romantic comedy. It's about a guy named Alim who was raised Muslim and who is living in London with his English boyfriend Gilles. His mother, who lives in Canada, doesn't know he's gay and she comes for a visit. After finding out what is really going on, the mother heads back to Canada and Alim & Gilles go their seperate ways. Alim goes to Canada to straighten things out with his mother. And well, you'll have to watch to find out the rest. Oh, one more thing, Alim has an invisible friend who happens to be Carey Grant, who helps him along with his problems. Some parts were kind of slow and not the greatest but all-in-all, it was a great movie that's worth seeing.

(br) wrote: Memoirs of an invisible man gives John Carpenter a chance to bring a classic back to life, but with the miscasting of Chevy Chase and a emphasis on sappy romance, it can't stand to the original classic.
(ca) wrote: Oh dear, this hasn't aged well. Ryan O'Neal manages to give a believable performance despite the stilted dialogue but Ali MacGraw is as wooden as she is beautiful. The theme music is also beautiful but the rest of the soundtrack is somewhat odd. Disappointed as I had hoped to love this one. Some nice moments here and there, especially as the story unfolds but the first half is just awful.

I remember when I was getting my CDL, they used this movie as an example to why there are DOT regulations for truckers! It was fun to see Burt Reynolds as a bad ass back then! Sally Field was great as Frog, and I feel that her role was somewhat unappreciated in the movie. Jerry Reed is awesome, pure and simple! And of course, Jackie Gleason stole the movie! Like I said, still holds up!
