From the director of "Paradise Now", this film made me want to find out everything there is to know about life in the West Bank.

With a refined (and returning) cast and a a gripping plot from start to finish, I have no shame in naming this as one of the best movies in recent history... and only which any of the sequels could live up to this standard.Vercit: A

Viki B (es) wrote: What a fresh and exciting new twist to a classic and somewhat turgid romance! Of all the borrowed bits and pieces of Shakespeare's classic tale, the ones Levine chooses to revise make the most delightful impact. Instead of dear "R" and Julie's families fighting, it is their entirely different worlds; human and zombie. Thus the impact of their relationship is of a much fleshier and graver (no pun intended) nature. Because these two lovers choose to fight for their union, their entire societies are impacted - for the better. The end is absolutely refreshing - "R"is already dead, after all. What other way does he have to go than up? And Julie no longer has to "escape" - love paves the way. Ah, be still my fickle heart!

The Private investigator and former cop Mike Murphys (Burt Reynolds) partner Dehl Swift (Richard Roundtree) is brutally slayed, when he tries to blackmail a mobster with his secret accounting records. Lieutenant Speer (Clint Eastwood) and Mike Murphy who used to be Speers colleague, teams up to fight the mob, although they can't stand each other. Having both Burt Reynolds and Clint Eastwood in the leads should guarantee a hit back in the 80s, but this became a solid flop instead. No wonder when the balance between humour, drama and action is not working at all and the script is pretty poor I would say. There is no proper character development, which is one of the main problems. "City Heat" fails to deliver what you expect from the backdrop of this movie and this ends up on the minus shelf for both Eastwood and Reynolds in my book. This could have been so much better....
