Indu R (es) wrote: A plotless movie with very little acting. There were a few funny moments in this movie.

Abb J (fr) wrote: Drop Dead Gorgeous: Don't listen to the "critics" - this is one of the most hilarious mockumentaries ever made. In the years since its big screen debut, this sleeper has become a cult classic, with a limitless supply of quotable one-liners and standout performances from Kirsten Dunst, Allison Janey, Kirstie Alley and Ellen Barkin. It was also the big screen debut for Amy Adams. A+

Otageemeur L (fr) wrote: "My Beautiful Laundrette" is an interesting movie, especially at its time since it depicts mutliple aspects of the UK society from the 80's. The story is around Omar, son of a Pakistani immigrant. Omar is living with his father and his father hopes his son would continue school, however Omar sees his life differently and want to be a businessman like his uncle. At the same time you have Johnny, an old friend of Omar, living as a "homeless" guy that is part of a club who hates immigrants and particularly Pakistani... Nethertheless, Johnny and Omar will have to take care of a laundrette together for Omar's uncle, which allow them to also express their love with each other.I think the movie was smart but is rather slow and might feel very obscure. The main character Omar is particularly strange - he looks very out of the world, nearly dreamy, which doesn't go with the dark ambiance of the movie...

Pete R (mx) wrote: A pure & brilliant Z grade fantasy flick, so astonishingly bad it is a must see film... especially since it is better than so many attempts at making fantasy work in film. An enjoyable watch if you know you are in for a shocker.

Alexis A (es) wrote: Music is great, film isn't that great. Saw 'cause of Tim Curry.

David D (ru) wrote: Delivers a pretty preposterous plot with just the right mixture of seriousness and silliness. A Roger Corman production, which generally means some degree of brilliance on a small budget. The monsters are the sort of men in rubber suits we had to settle for in low budget horror and SF before CGI but they are quite gruesome if not at all convincing. Doug McClure and Vic Morrow both give credible performances. Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of this throwback to less sensitive days of filmmaking are the numerous big breasted girls in the supporting cast, usually clad in bikinis and shedding even these at every chance, who enthusiastically bounce in front of the camera. This is not a classic, nor even Corman at his best, but it is a true guilty pleasure.

Harpreet S (br) wrote: Alida Valli was extraordinary in this film! I liked the photography and the technicolor. Also the attire of that time. Even though the film is mostly predictable, it is still engaging to a certain extent. At times it becomes a drag. I enjoyed it for the most part. Also the ending I thought was daring for that time.

It's their she becomes in charge of the choir and of course she changes the lives of others. This is a comedy that would normally rely on cliches but much like the directors previous movies (Dirty Dancing, which relied on cliches from 80s dance flicks) he's able to balance the cliche with fresh material. It's not reinventing the wheel but it's not copying its formula either. Whoopi brings a breath of fresh air to the movie.
