After the dead zombie virus had spread throughout the world, people had found a unique way of treatment. It is called "protein back from the death" which could be imprisoned inside the virus’s host. When being injected daily, the "returner" could live as never bitten, although the virus still lived in their veins. There are several uncomfortable factors at play in the story of Sar's success-the clear class and culture shock; the pressure to compress 10 years of ballet training into three lest he lose his patron's attention-but Bass, enamored of his talent and determined to shape it to her liking, elides every one. Instead, we get white folks ruminating lyrically on the peasant Asian's role as a kind of grand jet bridge between East and West, and long performance sequences that are dazzling to behold but quite troubling to contemplate.

Anonymous W (au) wrote: It has a good plot going for it and I like that it came across realistic than like a fairytale, it has its cheesy moments, but it somehow draws your interest, has more depth than most chickflicks of its kind. Disappointingly though it started out really interesting but ended up with too many unnecessary close calls which ruined it for me, this is where less drama is better, make it seems like its trying too hard, and somehow embrace all it was avoiding in the start, but this was still a really good watch. (The desciption of the movie is not accurate!).

As if the horrific plot and acting weren't enough to make you throw up, the awful directing certainly will. But what else can you expect from a guy who claims his last name is "Megaton"? This man should be prosecuted by The Hague for crimes against humanity. Please, don't allow this monster to harm another poor, defenseless camera.

Director George Sluizer unfolds his story with non-hysterical -- but nonetheless unnerving -- precision. Vanishing is refreshingly free of manipulative scenes involving running bath water, jagged-edge cutlery and bunnies in the saucepan. In an unusual tack, the movie reveals the likely perpetrator almost immediately. "Vanishing," almost scientific in approach, reserves its suspense, not for the who, but rather the what and why. In another unusual development, the movie takes significant time visiting with the stranger, revealing his eerily normal family life. Sluizer adapted the film, but he takes a more non-linear approach than the book, which heightens the story at strategic moments to build suspense. Sluizer's direction is seamless throughout, effortlessly juggling domesticity and damnation as it ploughs inexorably towards an appaling dnouement. Mr. Sluizer, whose direction has the spooky precision of nonfiction crime writing and whose matter-of-factness makes the characters seem quite real, builds a disturbing horror story from seemingly modest beginnings. A clinical, maddening descent into the mind of a serial killer and a slowly unraveling hero.VERDICT: "High-Quality Stuff" - [Positive Reaction] This is a rating to a movie I view as very entertaining and well made, and definitely worth paying the full price at a theatre to see or own on DVD.
