Desire S (br) wrote: Surprised again by the ratings of this.....i love Toby Kebbell in this, his acting is flawless and believable. Hes fit and pissed which makes him sexy. Characters are unruly and you cant really relate to them on any level (unless you have a criminal conviction of course), having said that the plot line is good, with it being remote and isolated from civilization. This is the kind of film i put on when i have time to kill and it never fails to deliver some thrills now and then.

Matt B (mx) wrote: This is a great movie. If you haven't seen it, I'd be really suprised. Cause everyone knows how good it is. It's about these guys and these other guys. But some of them are aliens and monsters. And the monster guys do some bad stuff and kill some people. Then there is this giant pot plant and this shoe monster. But anyway, they end up playing basketball.

Wayne M (it) wrote: Tommy Lee Jones is an under rated film maker and his latest is a fine film about hardship, perseverance and determination. His films are authentic and true, without artifice. The Homesman is set in 19th century Nebraska, a harsh and forbidding place full of death and sadness. Hilary Swank plays a lonely woman who is entrusted with the task of transporting 3 women, turned crazy by the harsh environment, to a safe home. She is joined by Briggs, a true scoundrel and it is a tale of redemption and survival. This is a sometimes bleak film, but it also has moments of humour and Prieto's cinematography is truly stunning. A poignant and enlightening film that serves its subject well.
Andrew H (kr) wrote: A very good film noir drama with what seems a straight forward story but has a twist in it. Then turns into a story of conscience and a bit of revenge thrown in. The film itself is easy to follow and the story is quick. There is the odd bit of violence within the film but they are all restricted to fisticuffs. However these are quite realistic and one fight scene is particularly good. It is more of a film about violence rather than a film with violence. The only bad aspect of the film is that it takes too long to introduce the story before it gets into the main story. The other aspect is in regards to one aspect of the story the end result is not clear. Dana Andrews has the right persona for the cold emotionless detective and would not be surprised if the role was written for him to play. Gene Tierney's acting is average meaning that any actress could have done her role equally as well. Overall a good, easy to follow drama with a bit of a twist. Not much action but a fast moving story. It just seems to take a little too long to get into the story The acting is generally quite good too.
Sony J (gb) wrote: I can't stand it when movies THINK they're being deep. This may have worked as a play but as a movie it REEKED. The dialogue was awful, self-involved, self-centered, and just unbelievable. Even intellectuals within academia don't go around spouting the so-called self-reflective and visceral emotional truths that some of these guys were...and the speech at the end from her ex was just ridiculous, not because it was supposed to be, because no one talks like that. HATED this movie.
