Adam T (es) wrote: In my opinion, this is still one of the best old-fashioned gothic style ghost movies. It is also where I first saw George C Scott and had no idea he had largely been a comical actor! In this, he plays a recently widowed musician who moves into a house which is plagued with the usual creepy noises and unexplained occurences. I remember seeing this when I was young and was genuinly shaken by a scene where a child's ball bounces down the dark stairs. George then drives to the nearest bridge and hurls the ball into the water only to return home to witness the exact same ball bouncing back down the stairs. There have been some pleasing old-style ghost films since this one (namely The Others, Insidious, BBC's The Woman In Black, and The Orphanage) but none with the consistent chilling vibe of this.

Bill T (nl) wrote: Strange very lo-cost sci-fi with a cast of 6 (I counted) about a ufo that lands in the desert and torments a family.. but wait! The family finds each other! Awww! The aliens manipulate lower beings (birds, dogs etc) to do it's evil work. Pretty strange, not at all scary, gets boring at the end. But worth it to see Lorna Thayer acting when a killer canine (well. it's supposed to be, just pretend, real hard) is coming after her. Like I said, started out strong, but ends on a whimper.
Matthew S (ru) wrote: A classic Russ Meyer film about ambition, power, sex and really big boobs. Roger Ebert's one dip in filmmaking is shamelessly funny. One will find more oddly clever lines hidden between Meyer's hyper-attive pace. Actually goes beyond camp to an almost new genre of film entertainment. A must see! I'm still puzzled how this movie still earns the equivalent of an X rating. It's all so silly, it is difficult to find it at all offensive and impossible to deny the entertainment it offers.
