Jose R (gb) wrote: A really funny movie with a cliqued plot. The change up stars Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman as 2 really good friends who have came apart-ish. Bateman has a family with Leslie Mann and Reynolds is a struggling actor and one day after a night of drinking they decide to piss in a fountain and wish they had each other's life.Let's pro con this moviePro: the acting is good and Bateman and Reynosa come off one another wellCon: it's cliqued, the writing is alright, and it's predictable at the end, the movie is nothing new it has a decent plot with decent writing but in the end it's just a movie to turn your brain off and have something to laugh at

The idea of a zombie Gulf War soldier dressing up as Uncle Sam and murdering flag burners, corrupt politicians, and horny cops sounds like a novel idea but unfortuntately the film turned out to be a bit of a bore. A few inventive sequences redeem things a bit as there is a scene where a guy on stilts is chased through a park and also a scene involving a sack race but overall I was left disappointed. The team of Bill Lustig and Larry Cohen has created some classsic genre fare such as "Maniac Cop" but this isn't one of them as much as I wanted it to be. There are a number of fun appearances by genre vets such as Morgan Paull (Holden from "Blade Runner"), Isaac Hayes ("Truck Turner"), Robert Forster, PJ Soles ("Halloween"), Bo Hopkins ("The Wild Bunch") and more.
Tanner B (nl) wrote: Dead Man (1995) ? 1/2Smarmy, overrated B&W Western saga tells stark tale of William Blake (Johnny Depp), a writer who embarks on a dangerous journey after killing Gabriel Byrne and fleeing from the law. Unusual, even quirky at times, defeated by deadening pacing, annoying music cues, low-key (even hostile) attitudes and gross out death scenes for the sake of being disgusting. Only virtues: Robert Mitchum's memorable cameo, sheer originality; otherwise, repellent, sickening, and boring. Evidently, this is revered by many film critics and film historians; I am not among them.
Silver Screen S (es) wrote: Though based on clich (C)s, the film works because of its great actors, funny matchups of different "types" of couples (Ex: the player vs. the 90 day rule), and its interesting way of handling the parallel stages of the relationship.
