The Shutka Book of Records
A documentary about bizarre residents of Shutka, a Macedonian village built on the former city dump area. Shutka, where everyone is the champion of something. This film is a celebration of the culture, humor, spirit, oddities and idiosyncrasies of the Roma, one of the world's poorest and most persecuted peoples. (fr) wrote: this movie was such a waste if time, it absolutely sucked
(de) wrote: New take on an old formula, however competent, has the old Hollywood weaknesses. Updating an old stereo type with Iraq, a suicide child-bomb and a russian femme-fatale just isn't enough. Too predictable for the quality performances and cameo moments of brilliance to rescue.

Hey, even Rob Schneider was half decent in this one, before his endless cameos and supporting roles as a freak (mostly in Adam Sandler movies).

(gb) wrote: I think the reason I dislike this film so much is because it is so awful but the fact that I'm currently planning my own wedding might have helped. Vacuous people being nasty to each other for 90 mins with no real pay off, not my idea of a great film.

(nl) wrote: Wonderful, heartwarming film about a family who takes refuge in France after a fire destroys their family restaurant in India. They re-establish their family business and learn from French culture in spite of opposition from nationalists and traditionalists who resent their "intrusion" into a quiet French village.
