The Silence Before Bach
This latest feature from the eccentrically experimental Catalan director Portabella is a beautiful, sometimes faintly bonkers celebration and contemplation of the role Bach’s music plays in the world today. Blending historical reconstruction with very loosely linked ‘dramatic’ scenes and documentary sequences, the film constitutes a playful, painterly sequence of variations on the argument that Johann Sebastian changed the way the world hears thanks to his extraordinary ear for harmony.

I found it over intellectual (or I wasn't smart enough to get it) & in many ways seemed rather dull. I found it irritating & glad when it was finished, however there are some gorgeous stills & footage of early Liverpool.

(us) wrote: Well I love the old slashers of the 70's and 80's but this one escaped me as a kid. It's not the worst one I've seen but it's definately not the best. Just thought it was odd that 90% of the killings are in woodland that look small like the bottom of my garden and it gets dull.

My favorite part especially was the part when Miles and Buck had their "quick" conversation back and forth with each other. Some parts of the movie felt a little dull to be honest, but John Candy himself is certainly a pretty classic actor. Of course, Uncle Buck wasn't too bad of a character either! The overall story wasn't bad and the near ending and the ending itself had some good charm as well. Without Candy, the movie could've been worse.
