John A (ag) wrote: This Extremely Enjoyable Brit Thriller May Get Bad Reviews Down To It's Cheap Tricks & Somewhat Bad Script But I Found It A Lot Better Than What Critics Said It Was. Pat Holden's Poltergeist Film Is Based On The True Story Of A Poltergeist Haunting In Yorkshire, England That Happened In 1974, & Stands Today As The Most Violent Poltergeist Haunting In Europe. The Script Is A Bit Dull & The Effects Are Cheap But The Storytelling, The Acting And The Atmosphere Are Up To Scratch In This Hugely Enjoyable Horror/Thriller.

It also will make the older people in the family laugh at a few well accomplished jokes. definetely recommended if you're is looking for a new film to watch with your kids

Justin H (mx) wrote: Less a movie per se, and more a study in just how many outfits someone can make from a tablecloth, and old couch, and some lamp shades. If people actually dressed like that in the '70s, I am so glad I never had to live through that era. But I digress...Devil Dog is a mess. Sometimes, a ludicrous mess, but not often enough to make it worthwhile. The acting is purely high school-level, the characters are about as two-dimensional as tissue paper, and the directing/editing is like a step by step example of how NOT to make a good movie. Oh yes, and the actor playing the father looked like nothing so much as an older version of Mike Rowe from "Dirty Jobs." I kept expecting him to spout off a line about how taking care of a hellhound is a surprisingly clean business, apart from the dead bodies. But yeah. In a nutshell, Devil Dog has a few MST-able moments, but nowhere near enough of them to make it a movie to be watched for that purpose. And in terms of the movie on its own merits, I've certainly seen worse, but it's by no means good. Devil Dog just sort of wallows in mediocrity.
